I like Joe Arpaio A LOT, he is an American patriot in every sense, I think what he did while Sheriff here in AZ was spectacular. That being said, let the man retire in peace, he is an old man who can barely walk now. I've seen him many times at safeway, he is ALWAYS and I repeat ALWAYS nice to everyone that comes up to him, he has never turned anyone away that I ever witnessed first hand, he is friendly and cordial. But the fact is, he needs a scooter to get around, he has had a long successful career as a LEO, let the man have some well earned peace.
What is needed are younger people to pick up the mantle/reins/responsibility and pick up where people like Joe left off. Too many times we have someone outstanding retire and there isn't a soul who will or can continue that legacy. We are starting to see people realizing they need to get involved with their communities of late, instead of having things in auto-pilot, everything will take care of itself, I am too busy mode.
Freedom is a an active responsibility, though it sounds cliche, freedom sure as hell isn't free. We all need to be participants in what goes on with our friends, neighbors, family, community, and country while maintaining faith in God.
I’ve lived in Arizona for over 20 years. Sheriff Joe are Pio was one of the most corrupt sheriffs that we’ve ever had. He is responsible for millions and millions of dollars of taxpayer money for all the lawsuits that they had against him for the horrible things that he’s done. Unless you have lived in Arizona, and done any research on Joe Arpio, shut your pie holes! He’s done some of the most unpatriotic, corrupt, insidious, actions towards the human race in Arizona. He is the one person that when he dies I will dance and spit on his grave.! This is one of the things I was very disappointed in our president for… Pardoning him!
But I know people who did. Arizona has extremely strict DUI laws. It’s a no tolerance state. So they have DUI task forces go out and target people. Even if they have one drink. That’s it you get a DUI.
There’s a mandatory 24 hour sentence for any do you why. And then it goes up from there. they send you to tent city for that 24 hours.
The police, and the system here are so corrupt it’s ridiculous. I’m not even gonna get into it with you because if you can’t see how every system in our government is corrupt at this point in time, then there’s nothing I can say to make you understand the truth.
I already knew that somebody was going to ask me have I been to one of his camps. And the answer is no, and I already have my reply ready because you guys are idiots!
The amount of money that was to be made for handing out DUIs like candy - it’s ridiculous. Now that there’s Uber, and Lyft, they’ve lost out on those revenues. I’m happy for that.
I Knew a guy who went to tent city who had really long hair. It was beautiful. He was there for 24 hours. They kept him in a holding cell, with no food, no water, no restroom, nothing…
They refused to process him until they allowed them to shave his head. He held out as long as he could, but they won. They shaved his head to be in there for 24 hours. That’s it! 24 hrs! They don’t shave anybody’s had to be in there for 24 hours. But they did his, Because he had beautiful long hair and they wanted to denigrate him.
These people are on a power-hungry trip, they’re there to demoralize you, and beat you down mentally emotionally and physically! Not everyone who goes to tent city is a criminal. Let’s not forget that it wasn’t until about a year ago that marijuana was even legal in Arizona. Up until then being caught with marijuana was a felony! Yes - a felony!
So if you think somebody should go to tent city, and be treated like an animal in 115° heat, for smoking a joint, then you’re just as bad as Joe Arpio!
Wake up America! The police are not your friends.
Here is just a few of the great wonderful things he did for our country. Including people dying in their facility.
Personally… No I don’t think at all, so I don’t have to tell the officer I don’t drink and drive. I just don’t drink.
But many people, very many people will have a drink with dinner, a glass of wine, or a cocktail and drive home yes. That’s very common in the United States of America and around the world. So don’t act like you’re some holier than thou - and better than everybody else person.
People who have one cocktail or beer with dinner should NOT be getting DUI’s - and ending up in tent city! It’s just that the law in Arizona is no tolerance. Even one drink! One drink you can get a DUI. That’s just stupid.
So you’ve never ever had one beer, or one alcoholic beverage - then driven after that? Sure I have a bridge to sell you in the middle of the desert!
One drink shouldn't even register as a .08 unless you drive within an hour of finishing it. I guess if you're having a margarita out of a big gulp cup then you're fucked but regardless people end up taking a drink for the road way too often. If you are going to drive later limit yourself and leave a couple hours sober before you get behind the wheel. It's really not that damn hard.
Arizona is a no tolerant state. It doesn’t matter if it’s at .08 or not. Even a number below that you can get a DUI. All the officer hast to say is that you were impaired. Your blood alcohol level is irrelevant if you gotten A DUI in Arizona. You have to fight it in court, because whatever the cops say happened as what happened. End of story. Huge money maker.
Like I’ve said in several my responses here… I don’t drink, so I don’t have to tell an officer I don’t drink and drive. I just don’t drink. I’m not interested.
But I don’t think somebody who has one beer, or a glass of wine with a meal, should be getting pulled over and given a life-changing DUI - i’m having to go to Joe Arpio tent city.
I just can’t believe I’m having this conversation with people on this website. So you think people should go to tent city in Arizona in 115° heat and spent 24 hours for having one beer with a burger. You people are crazy!
Of course I’m not advocating for people to go up I have a bunch of drinks and drive, that’s stupid. But the point of the matter is… We’re in Arizona, the laws are made to make money for our state, not for the protection of people. Joe Arpio and his goons Took advantage of that. End of story!
Ggeezzzz - and where are the people who are fighting for freedom. No wonder we’re in the place we are now. We can’t even come to an agreement that if you have a burger and a beer, it’s OK to get in your car and not end up having to pay thousands of dollars in legal fees, fines, have a 24 hour stint in tent city - and have a mandatory breathalyzer in your vehicle for six months.
Why do I know so much about all this and I don’t even drink? Because so many people have been beat down with this law, and I’ve seen other people experience this. It used to be one year for the breathalyzer in the vehicle. That cost people money, and time, and it’s a pain in the ass. One lady I know was so old - she could barely blow into it right, and it was erroring on her! She had to go back to court I don’t know how many times, and explain this to them with a doctor.
There are so many problems with the legal system in Arizona, and if you can’t tell by now… Because of the elections… Why would you think any rules or regulations regarding alcohol and drinking and driving would be any different!
Nathan J Robinson seems to be a real far left journalist.
Not defending Sheriff Joe, but an article from a more centered journalist would be more convincing / informative.
Google it there are plenty. I don’t have anymore time to waste on Joe Arpio! They beat, tortured, and kill people in his presence, and at tent city. End of story. If you want to look it up go ahead.
We have those strict laws on drinking and driving because we are tired of people getting behind the wheel drunk, getting on the freeway THE WRONG WAY and then, someone being killed.
But muh… people can be smoking weed, addicted to pain medication, etc. etc. etc. there’s a lot of ways people can be driving under the influence. Let’s not even get on the conversation of texting and driving.
Having one drink at dinner, and driving home just not make somebody a drunk driver nor make them irresponsible. Get off your soapbox.
I thought we were on a platform of freedom. Maybe you do belong somewhere else where they’re going to be supporting those fascist, dictator ideas! It’s one thing to be out drinking and driving because you’re drunk, it’s another thing to have a glass of wine with dinner and get pulled over and get a DUI! Grow up
You are the one who needs to grow up. A true grown up knows not to get behind the wheel after having a drink(s). I know there are other things that make people not capable of making rational decisions while operating a vehicle. That shouldn't be done either. Anyone who gets behind the wheel after drinking, smoking something that will alter their thinking, prescription medicines that would slow their reaction time, etc are selfish.
As for texting and driving, as well as talking on your cell phone while driving, is now illegal. That has been passed.
Well I don’t drink alcohol at all so I don’t have to worry about that.
There are many adults that have one drink with a meal and drive. All over the world. Figure it out! Having one alcoholic beverage does not make you a drunk driver. Nor does it mean that you’re impaired.
You are wrong with that. A petite woman who has a "glass" of wine with dinner has a good chance of being impaired. Same with a guy doing a shot with a chase. Just one, though. It can hit them just enough to slow the reflexes to cause an accident. A true adult does know that!
Read my above reply. Via personal experience of a friend, and a link to a story of some horrific things that he did including people dying in his facilities. The story only lists one. There were many!
Also tent city was built right next to a location where they Incinerated the animals from animal control. So people would smell burning animals when they were incarcerated in tent city.
They finally closed tent city down, thank God, but the corruption of that incarceration conglomeration still goes on.
I will say this again:

Don't forget the bologna sandwiches.
Wrong, he’d have them hanging from the gallows
America is being tooken over by globalists/communists/dems/rhinos/CCPs/bidens/terrorists…
Tough love from Joe!

Spent some time in one of his work camps, did ya?
Nope!

I am ignorant to his corruption aside from leftist propaganda
