I've always believed he was a white hat. Your question just got me to wondering if he had any military background and if maybe Trump endorsed his competitor because Sessions is busy with devolution stuff. He was a captain in the Army Reserve turns out. Not sure it means anything thought I'd share.

The democrats all voted against his confirmation, and many of the GOPe did too. Also, a prominent Sessions-hate propaganda campaign (electrocute gays; take peoples weed away) was waged against him. Most likely White Hat.
