Look, athletes are paid an awful lot for what they do, so say all you want about that. Having said that, this guy has PRINCIPLES. He is giving up $380,000 per GAME to say F*CK YOUR COMMUNIST "VACCINE" MANDATE!
Sounds like what Dave Chappelle did when he turned down 50 million years ago. I was never on board with Irving's Flat Earth, but he sticks to his guns. Let's see the this sets up other players who are not vaxxed to be put in similar situations. Form a new league and tell the Nasty Bully League drown.
If the NBA players don't stand up with Kyrie and the others that don't want the vax, they truly are on the plantation still. It would be so easy for them to cripple the league if they stood up.
Having a bazillion dollars and taking some zeroes is ok. But the folks who have lost their incomes, their livelihoods and have little to nothing are the real heroes.
However, we need people who have celebrity to take a stand in order to get the message out widely and quickly while gaining support en masse. Glad he's doing it and I hope more join him. People could bring the nation to its knees over this if people of all walks of life walked off the job for weeks all at once. The house of cards would fall in days.
just to clarify Kyrie is one of the few examples where the player is making a ton of money even by NBA standards. He is a top 20 player in the league and has a ton of endorsement money.
He will be paid but only for road games since the team is choosing for him not to play until he can play in every game and right now its not possible given Cuomo/DeBlasio dictatorship in NY. He was set to make just under 35M this season so yeah he will loose a bit more than half of that (there are two road games in NYC so they would still fall under the same restriction i believe) but basically a guy is going to make close to 17M for doing nothing. Not a bad gig.
I do think Kyrie is an oddball BUT i respect the hell out of him so far for sticking to his beliefs even when it will cost him a TON of money. Its roughly 13% of the total of the 4 year deal he signed.

he'll be able to buy the NBA with the pain and suffering lawsuit he will win when China collapses.
Yea I canβt imagine that a forced vaxx was in his contract. NBA will loose Iβd like to take a look at a normal sports contract.

wtf i love kyrie irving now
No shit eh? I wasn't a big fan, now he, Jonathan Isaac and a few others are heroes.
Heβs not gonna fold, heβs not built like that.
Respect those who respect themselves.

Iβm proud of him but how absurd is $380,000 per game. Glad I donβt support any pro sports.
Letβs hope he stays strong. Heβs got enough money so that money will never again be a concern to him or his future generations

Aww, poor guy.
