A lot of the work here comes from the heart not just the brain. There is no objective measure to what a "good post" is. Its measured only based on what effect it has on the community here.
Stickied or not, screamed at or not, everyday every thing we are doing - whether its just clicking a like, or posting a deeply insightful post, or kicking a shill or just kekking at something funny - it is all good work. Everyday we spend here, its good work.
No dispute, just commenting on focus or "highlight".
Wait.... That IS an objective measure. A subjective measure would be, "did I put my heart into this work? Did I invest what I could?"
The two go hand in hand, but I humbly submit that what effect a post has is tied to the motivation and intent. My posts regularly do not mark up many clicks, but some people get a LOT from them, and while its nice to get a bunch of upvotes, if that was the highlight I was focused on, I'd be getting discouraged because I don't garner the upvotes.
I'm more interested in delivering quality posts that I feel are well offered, than how much upvotes I get.
Also, my time zone is such that I usually completely miss the massive online attention of the US contingent.
You are actually making the point here that its a subjective measure !
Mine too! Where are u from? I am an Aussie.
'Zactly.
But my point was that "A good post is measured by what effect it has" is an objective measure, not a subjective one.
Lol, downtown Danistan. Aka South North Korea.
<sigh>
One hopes you, my fren, are in a more liberated locality.
But I guess in some ways I am grateful to be here. If the hammer has to fall on someone's shoulders, then whose better than mine?
I just want to see "the arrests started" and names announced so that we can see the light at the end of this tunnel we are in. The moderators do a good job, one that I wouldn't want to be doing.
I don't agree.
A good post is one that doesn't promote fake information. Which has happened several times on stickies. And those stickies have lasted hours after comments have mentioned that the information is fake.
So there are definitely bad posts.
