I’ve been to Mississippi once about five years ago. I’m from NC, a part of the south but not deep south. I was blown away at how nice people were to me. I’ve been to Southaven only for a concert. In my experiences most people at a country concert have the same beliefs and get along, until the drunk fights start.
I believe MS was one of the first states to stop mask mandates. I haven’t been since Covid and can’t say from experiences.
It could be like other areas in the south every one is guns, rednecks, country, believe in freedom & etc until you get to a big city. Our big cities in NC can get liberal!
🤣 When I’m joking around I call my husband a redneck. Or, joke about all the stuff people in the country use. (It doesn’t always get put up). I saw looks like a bunch of rednecks around here with 6 gas tanks for the grill, ginny, 4 wheeler, pick ups, country music etc. Of course I’m referring to the derogatory meaning that’s become a publicity thing with reality TV.
I’ll admit I knew the time period but didn’t know the full history. I do now! Thanks for inspiring me to learn.

I've been here outside of Tupelo for roughly 4 years. We're as rural as it gets and for the most part it's quiet as far as intervention and freedom to live and let live. I'd research the county leadership you're looking into and go from there. As far as Reeves goes I'm on the fence about where he truly sits. Other than that welcome to the south as they told me.
Born and half raised here. Never lived in Mississippi though. I'll welcome you too a little belatedly. It appears you have left your yankeeness behind you.
Dont bring no liberal bull with you and youll be welcome. Lots of work. Get a job, contribute to society and life is great. We dont take kindly to dumb shit here in the south.
It's one of four States in the nation that doesn't grant any exemption (religious or philosophical) for student vaxxination requirements.
It's a bible belt State and doesn't provide a religious exemption tells me MS is controlled by reps not reflecting the people's religious beliefs.

People should learn where this supposedly derogatory term originates. You won't hurt my feeling by calling me a redneck.

Kudos to you for looking for yourself before asking for "sauce". Exactly my intent.
Yes. The cities tend to get a little stupid i agree. Get a piece of rural land and you'll be fine. The more remote the better.
Florida welcomes you
No state income tax
Based governor
Florida sux. Don't come, I mean go, to Florida. It's terrible (so I hear)
LOL
Too far from family
Too touristy
Not much of Florida is touristy though...just the parts everyone has heard of :)
Don't trust this guy. He wants to sell you sea shells that don't sound like the sea when you hold them to your ear.
I've been looking for land there and AL, so watching.
I'm from Mississippi. Not too familiar with the folks in the Southaven area though.
I'm thinking about an off grid homestead there. Can you offer any insights?
No more than you can find on YouTube.

Haha mostly. I fell in love with this part of the country. I still get usual..... you're not from here are you?

Can't bring any liberal BS if you don't have any.
East Tennessee ain't southern?
I smell...? what is that?
And stay from the industry plants. They're mandated like crazy.
Partially.
