This whole affair totally reeks of shit. Why would Alec point any type of gun at this woman? She wasn't an actress in the film, he wasn't rehearsing a scene. And wasn't someone else shot too? And Alec just gets "lucky" enough to kill her with a single shot? And not just graze her, hit her in the shoulder, etc? You can't tell me Alec ever handled a gun before, but just conveniently happens to shoot this woman once "by accident" and kills her?
Friends in the film industry saying the union prop crew and fight/firearm handlers walked off set the day before due to poor safety practices, came back to find they'd been replaced by "locals" (feds?) who were there the day it went down. Whole thing is sus
Totally, a disgruntled union member could have slipped a live round in the prop knowing someone (a scab) would get shot, not caring who it was. There would have been some chaos going on while the union members and the scabs were all present at the same time (6:30AM) when they came to get their equipment. It would be easy to do it. Union members don't mess around when it comes to strikes and replacement workers. Although most people wouldn't do it, but a hard core union person might.
Supposedly the scene was Alec shooting a gun at a camera and that woman was behind the camera. Still leaves the gaping hole of how did a live round get in that gun!
Negative, there is protocol for anything with a safety potential because of insurance. Everything that could be considered a risk is scrutinized due to liability. If a gun had to be pointed at a camera it would have a remote monitor connected or protection for the operator otherwise the set would never be insured and the movie would never be made.
I don't think they were even filming at the time, just chilling in a closed cabin where no one else could see what was happening....
I was not spouting a theory, that was what I read in an article reporting what happened. If I can track it down I will link it.
I heard several workers on the set had previously quit due to safety issues. Alec was shooting in New Mexico away from Hollywood sets and was cutting corners everywhere. He’s a total ‘loose cannon’ (/s) ...it fits his profile. I’m leaning towards u/Blurpy theory above as likely(?).
