To answer your question, I believe several people started making vague connections between the missing children and people of power. Once people close to the evil started disappearing, overdosing or being suicided, more questions arose.
I didn't see any direct mention of pizzagate by Q, but there are several posts that refer / respond to what the Anons discovered.
