About a week ago, I made a post explaining how I might've had COVID. Since then, I have recovered from my symptoms and currently am back to feeling fantastic. However, my sense of smell is extremely weak. I'm still not diagnosed with COVID, however I think it is nearly definite with the amount of people in my friend group that are currently sick.
So, I am wondering, what can I do to get my smell back and should I get tested?
I should also add, I have been taking Zinc, Echinacea, Vitamins C, D3 and A to combat this.
I got some back after eating super spicy. But I have never fully recovered but in a good way. I can only smell nice smells. I can't smell anything stinky. Poop, farts, must, old fish smell, the cheese isle, throw up, etc.
Are you now advertising for Jen "cabbage patch doll" Psaki job position?
Im gonna have to circle back on that one.
I did saline rinse to get my sinuses running couple weeks after my symptoms were gone smell came back. Same as when I get a strong cold before.
Not medical advice and saline up the nose isn’t always the best thing for you but works for me.
Same thing here, had super mild symptoms. Just some sniffles and a super light cough. Took ivermectin and a Z-pack just for shits and giggles and that all stopped in a couple days. About two weeks out now, smell is coming back stronger each day but taste is sort of all over the place. Can taste salty stuff decently, sweet stuff is still pretty flavorless and savory stuff is hit or miss. It is getting better every day, just taking a while. Think it’s just a matter of time.
I used to get a cold every year or two, usually around Christmas. Haven't had a bad cold or flu in years. Last one was like 3 years ago, the season before covid Plandemic. Anyway, I'd almost always lose my sense of smell and taste with the cold, right around Christmas so I'd miss out on tasting one of the best meals of the year It always comes back after 3 or 4 days. Just part of the regular cold or flu to me.
Based on accounts I’ve heard from family, friends, and coworkers.
You’ll either get your sense of smell back after a few weeks to a couple months. The longest I personally know of took the better part of a year. Some have said they just never got there’s back.
Keep in mind though. It’s all 2nd hand accounts I’ve heard. Not exactly factual objective information.
Well every winter when I get the "flu" I lose my smell and everything taste bad. Nothing new it goes away
Apparently the only lasting effect with "long covid" is smell, and you might have gotten that. Did you try Ivermectin? My guess is, the little spikey bastards got too much of the nasal epithelial cells. Look for studies referring to this.
When my wife had COVID in Mar 2020, the only reason we knew it was COVID vs a mild 3-day cold, was a complete and total loss of smell without any nasal congestion as that was such a unique symptom, found in early reporting. This lasted 2 weeks before her sense of smell started to return. It was about 8 months before her smell was normal. Her biggest complaint was that farts smelled like chickpeas, which I guess isn't a bad thing. Certain foods tasted funny as well.
