The best translation of the Bible is the one you’ll read.

Not True! Research how many time “Jesus” was redacted out of the NIV version and how many times words were changed to make the evil one more favorable. Want absolute truth learn Ancient Greek and translate for yourself.

Here is some scripture to reference on the importance of translation Deut. 4: 2

Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.

I’m not arguing your point that some translations are garbage, only that Believers can get into pedantic arguments about translations when the point is to READ it. I am a regular student of the Bible and frequently refer to the Greek and Hebrew texts. The KJV has not cornered the market on being the most faithful translation, but I will heartily agree that in some instances, there is nothing like the beauty and majesty of the old King James.

The enemy loves for God’s people to be divided over stuff like this.

Extremely naive take. Reading falsehood fills your mind with falsehood. Feel free, though

Yes!

‘Strips of cloth’ is no substitute for ‘swaddling clothes’. And Mary was ‘with child’ – we think of the Madonna and Child – she had not ‘fallen pregnant’ as it says in one of the godforsaken modern versions. You cannot satisfactorily replace ‘through a glass darkly’ with the crass literalism ‘puzzling reflections in a mirror’ or ‘sounding brass and tinkling cymbal’ with ‘noisy gong and clanging cymbal.’ The KJV was designed to be read aloud in churches. All the modern versions sound as if they have been written by people with tin ears and no rhythm.

You can argue against the KJB regarding accuracy of translation (but not with me, since I haven't read the original texts and don't read the language in any case) but you simply cannot deny the power and beauty of the text in the King James version. The word of God should be conveyed with at least SOME sense of majesty.

KJV may sound prim and proper and tickle the feels with its eloquence but it is a horrid translation.

Read with the Interlinear alongside to help. Some things are actually clearer in the Interlinear than in the kjv.

Biblehub.com has the Interlinear linked with the concordance, the definitions of every word, and where the word is used in the Bible

Biblegateway.com has all major translations available and is a keyword searchable index of the bible.

Both Biblegateway.com and Biblehub.com are fantastic resources for students of God's word.

The only difference between the NIV and the Jehovah's Witnesses Bible?

The NIV has footnotes identifying some of the verses they've removed.

Here's Acts 8:36-38 from the NIV-

Acts 8:36-38 (NIV)

36 As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?” [37] [c] 38 And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him.

What happened to verse 37?

Now read the same passage in the KJV.

Acts 8:36-38 (KJV)

36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

So if you read the NIV, the Ethiopian eunuch never gets an answer to his question unless you read the footnote, and it's a very important answer.

If you don't believe Jesus is the Son of God with all your heart, you aren't ready to be baptized.

What's stopping you from getting baptized if you read the NIV other than a lack of water?

Water went away with pentecostal. None of the fifteen receiving the Holy Spirit that day had water present. Theybwere baptized with spirit and by fire. They also spoke with tongues as we should too.

Not sure what you're talking about.

Acts 2:1-8

1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.

7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?

8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

The apostles had all been baptised already before this happened. And the Holy Spirit gave them the ability to preach in a language everyone could understand, regardless of their mother tongue.

And the gift of the Holy Spirit didn't stop the apostles from baptizing people with water that very same day.

Acts 2:37-41

37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

P.S. If people are babbling and it's not understandable by all, it's not the gift of tongues spoken of in Scripture. Remember that.

JW's deny the diety of Jesus Christ, say he was hung on a post, not a cross, and deny the existence of Hell. They are a non christian cult. Run, don't walk, to the nearest exit if you are a member. You can often tell a non christian cult by their avoidance of the cross. Ya, that is you too mormons.

One of Adrian Rodgers famous sayings: For one to understand Gods Word, there are 3 important ideals. 1. Know who the book was written to. 2. Know what it actually meant to those whom it was written to. 3. Then you can properly apply to you life. The KJV is my preference, howbeit, to know what it meant to whom it was written to, takes an enormous amount of study! Ancient Hebrew, Mesopotamian, Armenian, Greek, Ugarit. Once you understand how vastly different the different ancient languages were, you are able to grasp exactly what is meant. And that is mind blowing!!!! Our English language doesn’t give the Word justice compared to the original languages.

It was translated straight from the Stephen's Greek was done to bring people back to Roman catholicism by King James. There are some issues with it but just stuff added to support Roman theology.

Other translations really take liberty where they should not.

King James and the greek septuagint. Specifically the sons of Noah is an eye opener if you do not believe the word of God was edited by man.

Thanks be to the king of kings for his message of salvation, hope and redemption that transcends "editing ".
