All the Catholics I've known, old and young, have never said anything like this. And many are skeptical Catholics as well. If there was something like that happening they would be telling about it often.
Uhh, I'm Catholic and I've never been banned from owning Bibles. Every Catholic shop I see sells Bibles of various types.
