We enrolled our daughter, she just got accepted yesterday, into an online academy here in Ohio for the next 1/2 year, starts Jan 10th. Pulled her out of the public school. She is a sophomore.
She is okay and understands, concern she has is loss of friends and socializing. We have assured her that she will see them and get to hang out. She is very easily distracted, online will be better for her plus escape the shitty school environment
I used to be so pro public schools. Not any more. I really believe now that everyone should get their kids out of public schools, which have been destroyed by this woke nonsense. They are now just venues for the left to brainwash children. Even where I live, which is one of the most conservative areas in my state.
If you can't afford private school, check and see if your church provides help for kids attending church sponsored schools. Or look into homeschooling or joining with other parents to start your own little school. If any of you watch Salty Cracker, he was a public school teacher and now tutors for pay instead. I'm sure there are based teachers who would appreciate the opportunity to escape public schools.
This is why everyone should also be pushing for vouchers for their state. Let those funds go to the child instead of the school system. If they have to compete for those dollars, they will either improve or close their doors.
I took early retirement from education in 2019. Avoided the covid nonsense. As a retired principal, I can look back on times that I scoffed at parents who thought home schooling was better than what we could offer at my school....as the saying goes...once you're awake, it's all so clear. Now I feel for those who don't have home schooling as an option.
There is no way to get away from this, anywhere. That's why I keep harping on getting children out NOW, even if you think it's not happening in your schools, even if it's really hard. I'm glad you had the option to escape.

Edit: If I had children, I would 100% be looking into "classical" schooling. I think this is how "public" schooling should look like - back to the basics, teaching kids real skills, knowledge, and most importantly, how to think for themselves.
