The just bought the D.I.Y. Network and renamed it Magnolia. There's flower comms and symbolism here. They have young children. Given everything we know about the "Entertainment Industry" and how it operates, what is y'all's outlook on a seemingly "normal" couple buying a whole T.V. network?
In my estimation, "normal" people don't buy a T.V. network. It's not allowed in [their] world. So, what's going on here?
I'm asking because I just got into a spirited discussion with my 23 yr old son about this. He seems to think the Gaines family is normal. He's the kind of person who tries very hard to see the best in people. He's also a severe skeptic...when it comes to just about everything. I call him a fence rider. Hard for him to make decisions about [them] without seeing concrete, hard evidence, even when a mountain of circumstantial evidence is looming over him. He seems to think the Gaines family is just highly aspirational.
My "Spidey Sense" is tingling overtime with this. How does a normal family just buy a T.V. netowrk? ALL T.V networks are Cabal owned and operated. Are Chip and Joanna comp'd and corrupt? Or, is there another aspect to this? Are they Patriots and this buyout is just another White Hat takeover?
What are y'all's thoughts?
I am considering acquiring CNN and rebranding it to "Canine News Network"...
...adding the tag line "all the news thats fit to pee on"...howls....
I don't know, but I don't think them buying a tv network is proof of anything nefarious.
...maybe not them per se, but who is their "silent partners"?
Waco, TX.
I don’t think they bought the network?? I thought they’d licensed the magnolia name for the network to be rebranded - kind of like the Trump name being licensed for products and restaurants etc?

Special1 is correct according to this article they wanted to be more in control of their brand and HGTV wasn’t cooperating. They are wildly popular and DIY was in the dumps. It’s more of a merger with shows reflecting the Gaines values and their brand because DIY had flattened out. Some DIY shows will stay. Joanna wants a cooking show and more time with her kids.
I have often wondered this myself.... I question everyone these days.
I’ve watched Joanna for years on the decorating side. Both are very talented and their story began long before when he flipped houses, they met and she decorated their first home, but didn’t want to leave it. I can understand that. But he found another nearby and convinced her that she could decorate this one. I think it was back then they called their home Magnolia. They are Born Again Christians and have lived in Waco mostly, as do their parents. Like many builders, he looked at things to flip. The project he took on with that industrial section has improved the town. Then they bought a home opposite that site and turned it into aB&B which their parents run. I remember reading they were not happy with the direction of the TV series ages ago. They felt it time to move on. While most of us don’t have the capital they have, what has 45 said? Get in at grassroots level and change what you don’t like. They are just doing something but while it may seem huge, to an entrepreneurial couple, this is nothing. Their children are all polite and respectful, bit young to really see yet if they will follow parents into the business, but overall I think they are a lovely family.
I do think there are some bad seeds at HGTV for sure. As for Chip and Joanna at this time I say no. They were the top rated show at HGTV and making bank. After they left not sure what exactly they did but she had a collection at Pier1 and Target, probably others as well. I bet people pay them a lot of money to redecorate their homes. Maybe they made some wise investments, who knows. What comma are you seeing and symbolism? Any examples?
So your proof is they bought a TV network? They have had a successful TV show and they own businesses. You keep referring to them as "normal"...what does that even mean?? I do not think they are normal and everyday like you or me but that doesn't make them cabal.
I used to go to HGTV for stress free time.
Now HGTV is unwatchable b/c of the ubiquitous "open concept". Every program is the same, these guys included. Whatever the history of the house the solution is the same: TEAR OUT THE WALLS! Add steel beams if necessary, just tear out the walls!
NO! I LOVE the intimacy of a dining room. I LOVE walls upon which I can hang family pictures and other art and beating clocks.
My home has wide doorways with a nice flow between the rooms for family and entertaining. Yes, ROOMS, not a wide-open space with echoes defined only by furniture groupings.
WE know walls have reason and purpose! ; )
LOL sort of felt the same way years ago before we cut the cord But now I'm feeling that the one-room house, one-room schoolhouse, etc. had purpose too. Forcing togetherness in the common spaces isn't necessarily a bad thing, having rooms to go to be quiet is good too...
I think they are representing the normal, successful Christian family. They have made loads of money, and having your own network allows you to avoid the censors who don't like their stance on traditional marriage.
I just find them to be obnoxious... also getting tired of the "celebrity" cooking shows anymore.
Right now I'd say no. (But given how everything seems to be totally whack-a-do in the world, I reserve the right to alter that position.)
They have a kind of sweet story behind why they chose the name Magnolia.
*Chip and Joanna Gaines have been inspiring couple goals since the first season of Fixer Upper aired on HGTV. Together, they've built Magnolia, a home empire that includes everything from a real estate company to a lifestyle shop. And while we feel like we know practically everything about Chip, Joanna, and their business, we were touched by the cute story behind choosing the name Magnolia.
In an interview with Glamour, Chip explained the significance of magnolia trees in their relationship. "When we were just dating, I would pick these blooms from Magnolia trees," Chip shared. "If you've ever seen them, they are almost just bowl-like, and that whole thing just always inspired us. So when we had the opportunity and were trying to figure out what to name her little boutique, Magnolia Market just stood out to us. That stuck with us and here we are now in furniture and paint, and all the bits and pieces will have some magnolia statement to it."
Today, the magnolia tree is just as symbolic for the couple. Chip and Joanna plant a magnolia tree in front of every home they renovate and, naturally, have some planted at the Silos. The trees, with their gigantic white blossoms, make quite the business signature. If you're driving around Waco, TX, and spot a picture-perfect home with a magnolia tree in the front yard, chances are you're looking at a Chip and Joanna masterpiece.*
No.
I have thought the same. Frankly it’s impossible. They’ve bought up and restored blocks of derelict sections of Waco. They have a television network, magazine, retail stores, restaurant, thé perfect marriage and a boatload of kids. I have not looked in this rabbit hole but when Jennifer Lopez had Joanne decorate her home I became very suspicious. I mean country transitional for Jennifer Lopez? As if! I think it’s all fake. Out of sheer curiosity I’d love to dig into this one!
