I switched to vaping last year… My lung capacity is much better now… I smoked cigarettes for 20 years. Will bum one occasionally… I feel like crap after smoking a cigarette now
Yeah, I've been vaping for a little over a year as well.. I think I feel better.. I'm sure it's healthier but wondering about this antibacterial part.. that would be interesting if true.
I recall reading and hearing early on in all of this that somehow nicotine inhibited the passing of the walrus (wirus) and it was mentioned in some interviews. Possibly due to the tar/mucus in the throat and or lungs?
Interesting, I just looked it up.. there is evidence of that.. I think it said that one possible reason could be that nicotine affects the ACE2 receptor in some way
Smoked for over 40 years, 1/2 pack a day. Still jog 5km a couple times a week. Switched to vaping. 2 weeks later had blood clots in both lungs which developed into pneumonia. Started researching and found this, while not common, has been happening in increasing numbers. In fact, a specialist I was referred to had treated a few other people with a similar history and story. Went back to cigarettes. Feel better but poorer........
I tried the vaping,. every time I did it for a day(instead of smoking) the next day I could not breath in the morning. My lungs filled with gunk. The only help was to get a real cigarette and puff it down, then I would hack up a lung or two and then feel fine. I have smoked forever, hardly get sick. No issues with lung capacity either. I have NEVER had an experience with smoking that scared the shit out of me like Vaping did. There is one thing I remember that was a similar terrible feeling of not being able to breath like what the vaping caused,... I helped set up road flairs on an icy road where there was a major pile up, I breathed in too much of the flair smoke, and for the next few days I thought I was gonna die. Same feeling if I vape.
Yeah, I know a lot of people that vape but never heard of this happening as a result. Although I don't know anyone personally that have the popcorn lung thing.. I have heard of that being a thing.. but I still am not sure what popcorn lung really is
I know, me either. My husband vaped for a year and it helped him stop smoking. He also had a history of pneumonia, no side effects. I tried vaping full time too to help me quit, my breathing was better and I quit being out of breath all the time. The only side effect was my gums bled more at the dentist when they poked them. Seems that the nicotine from cigarettes constrict your nerve endings, slowing the blood flow( I know too much info). My dentist did NOT approve of vaping though, and let me know. He's anti-smoking anything.
From what I hear popcorn lung is when you take a slow deep inhale of air and it starts making the sound like you are popping popcorn.. This can happen from other things, not just vaping. My friend has it from working on an industrial chicken farm without proper ventilation, the fumes from their poop can destroy your lungs.
Well, I guess the only thing I can say now is, I've been back on the cigarettes for 3 years, haven't been ill once and never had a recurrence of blood clots (not Jabbed also). Also, after the clots, my dr told me I would need to be on warfarin for the rest of my life, as obviously I had a clotting issue.... lol Told him to keep his rat poison. I ride a motorcycle, hike etc. The last thing I want to do was bleed to death from a simple accident.
I smoked for years quit then vaped for a week and thought this is stupid I just traded one habit for another.
I have been smoke vape nicotine free since 2014. Honestly once in a while I vape my THC and it takes a few days to get my breathing back to 100%. I know vaping clogs you up you just dont know it BC you vape.
about 5 years ago i got into vaping and even tried making my own juice with PG from the horsie paste store, but anyway i read alot about it and there was alot more stories like this where they used to use PG for asthma and other lung ailments.
It's the propylene glycol, aka PG that these companies use. Most vape mixtures are a combo of VG (vegetable glycerin) and PG. PG is what's used in the air scrubbers in hospitals, airplanes, submarines, the ISS, etc. It also can cause allergic reactions when vaped. So, if any of you vape and feel like your lungs itch on the inside, it's most likely PG

I never heard that before either....it sure is interesting. It would seem vapor is better than inhaling something that is on fire, right?
Yes I would say combustion is where the problem lies
Same here fren

Thanks will refresh my memory.

Apparently it inhibits the S1 spike protein from attaching to the ACE2 receptor cell, why? I'm not there yet.
Not sure about that antibacterial, however Nicotine binds to the Ace2 receptors thus blocking the covid spike proteins. Much of the research is memory holed or deleted now. Archived at webmd https://www.webmd.com/lung/news/20200430/smokers-hospitalized-less-often-for-covid-19
Also,
Nicotine has anti-inflammatory effects, there is an article on NIH. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3163205/
Just start smoking pot. It fixes everything!

I used to smoke until 17 years ago. Putting any man made chemicals in my lungs isn't going to happen any more.
