A couple days ago I saw a video, I think from Canada, with two different interpreters in video boxes to the left and right of the speaker. Then the person on the right tapped out and a third hand waver came in.
I mean, that's an important part of sign language, conveying tone through facial expressions. I agree that it makes it graphic how pouty the message is, but she's only conveying what's encoded in the tone of voice and other context.
I have to say that today, I was working with an AI telephone “thing”... as I got more upset that I couldn’t reach a live person, the AI voice became a little more agitated. I caught that so changed my tone of voice , and it responded in similar fashion (kindly). Btw - it was Fed x
True. I was in the second row at my college graduation, and the sign language lady was extremely expressive in her facial expression. I watched her, and barely listened to the speeches.
Yup stopped dead in her angry face tracks

Why not just use subtitles?
Because apparently deaf people can't read, but can interpret sign language.
At Mandela's funeral, remember this 'fake' sign language guy?

Yes! What's up with that?
Her face is going to stick like that if she keeps that up :)
