Ok, so that "symbol" is actually the #4. It's how the Air Boss (Flight Deck Control) can differentiate between Sailors wearing the same color. They all have numbers on their float coats or cranial so FDC can call you out if there's an issue. I spent a coupe years as an Aviation Ordnanceman before moving to EOD. EVERYONE has reflective tape numbers on their cranial and float coats.
The colors are coded for specific jobs. Yellow and Blue for the A/C handlers, Purple for the fuelers, White for Safety/LSO's, Green for the Avionics/Powerplants/Airframes guys, Brown for the Plane Captains, and my favorite, Red for the Ordnancemen (IYAOYAS, BITCHES!!)
Anyway, that's the number 4, not some Epstsin-esque symbol. I love the chans' energy and enthusiasm when it comes to decodes, but sometimes, they're way off. This is one of those times.
Number 4 is the number of stability, order and completion of justice
Number 4 is the number of the earth and mankind.
Number 4 is the number of the square.

The Pythagoreans believed the number four, the Tetrad, was a perfect number. They taught that the Tetrad symbolized God.
Tetraphobia
The number 13 is not such a nice number in the West and comes with a plethora of ill fated meaning. Tetraphobia or the fear of number 4 is common in East Asia. You may especially notice Tetraphobia in China, Japan and Taiwan. In these countries four is pronounced the same as the word for “death” (shi). Many apartment and business buildings, hospitals, and hotels will skip the room and floor number four. The same goes for the industry and their military vessels. When visiting never give a present made up of four pieces, for example never give four flowers. That would be a huge insult.

The New Mexico flag has Pueblo symbology. The number four is sacred to the Pueblo people. The Zia Pueblo sun symbol is used on the flag of New Mexico, USA. The four sets of four strips symbolizes: four seasons – four directions – four corners of the earth – four elements
To be Hung, Drawn and Quartered
To be hung, drawn and quartered was the full punishment for high treason in medieval England. The condemned prisoner was sentenced to be dragged on a wooden frame to the place of execution (drawn) be hanged by the neck until almost dead (hung) be beheaded and divided into four parts (quartered). Edward Despard was the last person to be sentenced to be hung, drawn and quartered on February 21, 1803.
I personally like the hung, drawn and quartered section. We do not have to believe any of the numerology stuff that is associated with any particular number - but the people, and I use the term loosely, are all into the numbers. Symbolism will be their downfall. So make of it what you will. #33 in the kill box and the #4. Hmmm.... some interesting takes.
Yes, its the number 4. And the number 33 on the plane is just a painted on number. That doesn't mean these numbers are not significant. We all know about the 33 degrees of freemasonry. and the 33% in dan scavinos tweet.
That 4 looks an awful lot like a chopped H. Smells Comm like to me, unfortunately I don't have enough experience yet to give it a firm yes or no at this point. It just seems like there could be more.
Thank you for your service & your insight to this.
