BE CAREFUL: iodine and kelp must be used with caution - can cause serious thyroid problems. VERY small amounts are needed!
I've just started using it again and an eye problem that's been getting worse has started to improve. Its good stuff, can be used in many ways.
Agree completely about being careful. It seems to displace years' worth of other halogen build up, and the side effects can be pretty rough if they just hang around in the body. It's important for a person to listen to their body and play it safe.
Iodine and kelp supplements should come with a warning. Know someone who took it for weight loss and ended up with a sub-total thyroidectomy.
Wow, thats intense. Good warning for everyone to see.
Thanks for this.
1 drop of Lugol’s a day has kept me healthy and I’ve dropped all my excess weight! I’m going to cut back to 3 times a week. I also use it in my nebulizer for hubby along with food grade hydrogen peroxide and saline. It’s a miracle at the difference in how you feel.
Overdoing it is linked to something called the Wolff Chaikoff effect. It's definitely not good, and we ahould all be careful trying to follow a guide like this without a ND's help. That said... Given what I've learned this year, I'm very suspicious that the timing of the Wolff Chaikoff study was just a few years after fluoridated tap water waa introduced. I haven't had time to compare with the timing of brominated flame retardants or bromine disinfectants in hot tubs, etc
Thank you. I take two drops Lugol's 5% daily, I'll give the higher dosage a try now. Let's see what happens.
That seems like a lot, over time it may lead to hyperthyroidism, be careful!
I use a very weak dilution of 15%: as far as I know 1 drop = 125 doses. You may not realise you've overdosed until the damage is done. Take care.
Be careful and listen to your body and/or med professional. The cofactors are important, and higher amounts can cause side effects. Ive pushed it and just felt like crap until I stop taking it and force myself to chill out. Like kick back have a salt-ringed cocktail, have a nice relaxing soak, and wait a couple days before having more, lol.
This paper seems to suggest that you can take 25mg of iodine per day so thats like 20 drops. But that conflicts with what we are saying in this thread about thyroid issues
Cofactors seem to be indescribably critical. Selenium, vit c, zinc, boron etc. I forgot selenium for a week and had a bad time.
Totally. Apparently it's on us to reconcile.
Interesting, thanks.
1 to 2 drops lugols per day in my drinking water. Amazing expectorant properties and I suspect the antiseptic properties is the reason I haven't had any respiratory virus infection in years. Consider using a fluoride rinse to keep teeth strong. Iodine has similar chemical reactivity as fluorine.
You can fuck right off with that suggestion! Do you realise how poisonous fluorides are? And they do nothing useful for your teeth. (My dentist offered me a fluoride rinse and I told him to fuck off, too.)
There is a difference between rinse and swallowing it in drinking water ya gap toothed hillbilly.
True but fluoride does nothing to improve your teeth.
Take iodine for an extended period of time and find out what a competing halide can do to your teeth. I'm a true believer in the benefits of iodine, but chemistry is chemistry. Iodine and iodide chemically competes with fluorine, bromine and chlorine and their respective ions.
That’s still not a good idea mate...... fluoride will damage your enamel on your teeth and will eventually remove all the enamel on your teeth.... it’s like a bead blaster... it’s been a problem for the Brits for decades because they put fluoride in their drinking water......

I may be misinterpreting what you are saying, but abrasives and fluorides are different components of dental care products.
