A bit oversimplified, but true. Both movies depict the fall of a galactic empire. Luke is a hero in the making simple and pure, whereas Paul is corrupt from the day he was conceived. Lucas was paying homage to the media he grew up with, whereas Herbert was warning us about ... well everything.
I better stop before I spend the rest of the evening geeking out over two of my favorite things.
"Through His Angels, the One Living and Eternal Almighty God is known - more than once - to have said, "Don't be Afraid"; when (for example) meeting with those who might be startled by the appearance of supernatural beings who are sent with good tidings of great joy.
If you can learn to fear God (in joy, in love and in respect) as opposed to being afraid in ignorance and guilt, what do you have to fear?
"Fear is the mind killer...". "Be transformed by the RENEWING of your mind..." So, I wonder... was Herbert referencing Apostle Paul when he named Paul Atreides? "The Trust (in God) must flow..."
I have given thought to why horror and thriller movies, books, etc, are so popular. My idea about that is this. Fear is instinctual, it saved us, as a human species, as it saves other species. Mammals, especially the big predators, used the sense of smell, humans, as created by God, were given a brain that evolved after the eviction from the garden, there was no need for it while in that paradise. As civilizations developed, so did war, fear was necessary, as was the adrenaline needed for battle. The Old Testament hinted time and time again of a peace and love which was prophesied, and then it was realized with Christ, who told us not to fear, as a matter of fact, before his birth, Mary was advised to not fear. With Christ, humans were given a chance for the greatest evolution of all, for which we were made to begin with, forgiveness of our transgressions against Gods laws, with the acceptance, along with baptism, to attain our highest glory, above angels! Yet that primal instinct, that animal instinct, still lurks as part of our "original sin". So, we are tempted to ignore our evolution by finding ways to titillate those ancient instincts in modern times, by entertaining ourselves with horror, finding "fun" in blood sports, applauding violence we would not want pointed at ourselves. Evil is very much competing for our attention, to arouse those primal instincts, no longer needed with Christ. It starts with a Disney movie for children, slasher movies for teens, and Steven King for adults, Evil incarnate wants us to stay in the animal state, Christ tells us that perfect love that he has for us will cast out fear. The reality of satanic influence is not to be brushed off as some anti intellectual bogey man. We live in time and place, but, there are metaphysical realities also. Take time to meditate on Christ, and avoid the urge to get "thrilled" by scary things, the devil is trying to keep you in an animal state, Jesus Christ wants you to evolve to Gods purpose.
I believe in the evolution of consciousness. I also believe that animals, plants, and birds have evolved through adaptation, or else went extinct, and that the earth has gone through stages of climate crisis, ice age, etc, which was the last big test for adaptations, wiping certain things off the map, while some were able to adapt to it, migration for instance,, which allowed survival. No, I do not believe that reptiles were able to become warm blooded birds, that they are different species, but I do believe there were dinasaurs. But the evolution I was talking about in this case, is the evolution of consciousness, which began when humans became aware of the one true God, and that Jesus Christ, and the faith in his being, and acknowledging that he is one with the father, pushes the consciousness into evolving. The prophets were able to hear God because their holiness and adherence to Gods laws gifted them with prophecy, believing in God in Christ, gifts us with something far greater than prophecy, eternal life for the soul. We do not evolve into super humans, but our brains evolve,, not in a Phd sense, but in the sense that we experience the presence of God in every single atom of creation, and that sense of HIM, relieves us of fear, heals us, and gives us gifts of the holy spirit.
Anxiety is generally characterized by cognitive impairment. In particular, the worry dimension of anxiety is closely related to impaired cognitive performance [1, 2]. Worry interferes with the transmission of signal from action-monitoring to post-error adjustments, which leads to unimproved behavioral performance [3]. Additionally, if worry refers to the cognitive dimension of anxiety, fear can be considered as emotional and psychological arousal. The relationship between fear and worry has been explored in numerous studies. Individuals in fear are more sensitive to emotional stimuli than those in worry, which shows the distinction between fear and worry in attention engagement [4]. Besides, worry, as the contrast avoidance, may attempt to inhibit the fear experience [5].

...cool Dune and Star Wars mash up....
I've always believed Lucas was at least partly inspired by Dune, though Star Wars is definitely a different kind of story.
...Dune is a nuanced story...
...wherein Star Wars is an outer space version of "Shane"...

My favorite line from the original '80s version is, "I'm not in the mood"
He was. In early interviews when the first movie came out (1977,) Lucas said that he was a fan of Dune and that's why he used the desert setting.
Remember the big skeleton that R2 and 3P0 walk past when they first arrive on Tatooine? That was supposed to be a sandworm.
And Han was in trouble with Jabba because Han got boarded and had to dump that load of - spice!

Deep State: Total obliteration is the final consequence of fear’s dominion.
Trump: Total obliteration is now the judgment for those who ruled by fear.
God: "Everything hidden will be brought into the light." (Luke 8:17)
If you know "Jesus" you don't need to fear anything and I mean, ANYTHING.
FEAR is the Dis-ease of mind. They put the thought there, you harbor it and wham, it's manifested good or bad.
Scripture tells us not to fear 365 times. Not an accident.
When Trump says “Total Obliteration”…
He’s flipping the meaning.
He’s not warning of destruction through fear—but declaring the destruction of the fear machine itself.
In the Herbert quote, obliteration is the cost of fear.
In the Trump comms, obliteration is the punishment for those who used fear as a weapon.
Perfect love casts out all fear.

Your somewhat generous use of the word "evolve" "evolution" is a tad odd.
Do you mean it like in dariwn terms? or what?
and
do you believe the birds came from dinoes?

Communism leads to cannibalism Cannibalism leads to suffering
Suffering leads to.. idiots demanding communism!
It’s the cirrccllleee, the circle of tard!
I have a power point presentation with both those quotes lol
The litany against fear is awesome.
They're injecting people at concerts!!!
They have weather guns!
John and Daisy next door may riot if they find out children are brutalized!!
Planes are dropping poison all over us!!
Fear is indeed the mind-killer. It leads to people taking experimental injections for a virus with an extraordinarily low mortality rate.
