Yep I think so to. Way back when trump tweeted something, I forget how it was worded but Comey said he woke up in the middle of the night and realised what trump was saying, and that how he knew to document things.
It's hard to know. Especially when we saw Rod Rosenstein leaving air force one with a huge grin in 2018.

giving them a chance at redemption on top of a lighter sentence. we shouldn't underestimate the idea that these people probably had hopes of doing good in their youth. hopes that were used as levers for eventual corruption.
I consider myself able to be able to read a person very well. Watching interviews with Barr from before the election he now seems a bit uncomfortable. I get the feeling he's not a great liar or secretly feels bad about having to publicly bash Trump. His demeanor seems off. He doesn't have that fire he once had. I 100% believe Barr is playing a role.
