My sister teaches privately in some sort of charter school thing. She started doing this after both of her kids finished with being homeschooled. She gets paid per student and she said business has been booming for her. This is in CA. Parents have been pulling their kids out of public schools.

20 years ago I homeschooled.
I was contacted by a person who still runs a N. CA county homeschooling online newsletter some months ago to help out with answering interested parent's questions. Apparently the email requests were over a hundred and increasing daily!
Many parents decided to check out homeschooling after viewing the woke garbage and paranoid, lazy-ass attitudes of remote classroom instruction by public school teachers during the school lockdowns. To this day, CA teachers and admn still demand masking and mandated vaccines for students so they won't catch the coof from them. It's insane.
So I got myself up to speed and answered numerous emails. Most of the parents seemed willing to sacrifice extra income (hard to do in these inflationary days!) and have one spouse be at or work from home to supervise their children's lessons.
I'm also helping out by offering practical sewing classes that include hand-sewing basics and refashioning old clothing for homeschoolers.
It doesn't surprise me at all that CA schools are losing students. The public schools are more concerned about the teacher and administrator's comfort rather than the students psychological and physical well-being. CA public schools are radical leftist indoctrination centers that have little to do with practical life skills, reading, writing and arithmetic.
They don’t equip anyone for life ahead. Trump was right. Trade schools are the answer. Universities just make them useful idiots.

A former homeschooled friend of my son apprenticed with an appliance repair company. He was paid minimum wage for a couple of years to learn very useful skills. He now has his own business and is married with 2 kids.
Yep and if you choose a trade that's more in demand you don't start off at minimum wage. My old job relied on appliance repair in the winter but made their bank in the summer fixing and installing new air conditioners.

I fully agree. Got pushed into going to college “because that’s what you do” when I NEVER wanted to go and have always made good money & taken care of myself without. I’ll finish eventually to make the debt worth it but shit. Millennials especially have been lied to. The world of our parents’ youth doesn’t exist anymore.
