Do you know what perish means? Or what death is?
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
Pay attention to the last sentence and how it is an explicit contrasting comparison. Those who are not righteous have everlasting punishment. The righteous have eternal life.
Point me to a single clarifying verse that says that hell is "punishment until death" and that the torture will pass at any point in time once those who have experienced death, die another time and perish for good.
No such verse exists. Where is the verse talking about death after death? Hell is explicitly spoken of as if it has no end. There is absolutely no indication to think otherwise. It says the exact opposite of hell, that it is a fire that does not burn up, that the people experience a thirst that is never quenched. We are repeatedly told in MANY ways that IT DOES NOT END.
ITS EVERLASTING. Not fulfilled until the end, it has no end. You're injecting things that don't make any sense.
“hell” is never mentioned in the original Greek or Hebrew text. It is sheol, Hades, Gehenna, and Tartarus that are all translated into the word hell.
I just pointed you to multiple verses that say without salvation you perish/experience death (cease to exist). That is the punishment and you could call it everlasting or eternal because, well, you cease to exist forever, but it isn’t an actual physical burning in a fire or psychological punishment that never ends.
Do you have any other verses you can share?
Btw iron sharpens iron. Thank you for engaging
I think you are willfully being ignorant here. I've already noted this, but you have to die/perish in order to be sent to hell. There is nothing at all talking about a second death.
Why would I share any more verses? You have none that back up your claim. I don't need to show you any more that explain it any better just because you deny it.
Where are you getting this second death? Not something I said. And I literally just posted multiple verses that back up my claim and say belief is the way to eternal life. If you consider spending hours upon hours reading the original Greek/Hebrew and comparing scriptures with other scriptures and praying for discernment from God to be willful ignorance, then yeah, I guess I am being willfully ignorant. I didn’t just willy nilly come up with this belief when I read the OP, it is something I have been studying off and on since 2011. Willfully ignorant… kek
If you don’t have eternal life, how can you have everlasting punishment?
Here are some more scriptures:
I can find more, but the trend is Jesus = eternal life; no Jesus = perish, death, destruction.
Here’s another one:
The eternal punishment of Matthew’s scripture is the same as Sodom and Gomora, one of death and destruction, not life.
“ Where are you getting this second death?”
This is what I’m asking you. You are saying that someone dies, and then goes to hell until... they die again? Perish, as if that’s different than death? The Bible uses both interchangeable. I don’t understand at all where you get this crazy idea from because it’s not spoke of in any Scripture, having to die twice.
Are you seriously retarded and don’t realize that everyone dies, but not everyone has it be everlasting, because the saved are given life again?
People die, they go to heaven or hell. In hell, they experience death continually. Everlasting. In heaven, people are given life again.
It’s really not hard to understand.
Did you know Jesus DIED?? But he was resurrected and lived again. He did not experience everlasting death in hell.
