It sounds like you're doing what you feel is best for you right now. Nothing beats self sufficiency. We're between homes right now so the thought of long term shelter prep isn't top of mind until we resettle. Perhaps I am also naΓ―ve in thinking any 'nightmare' situation that comes will only be a couple weeks or months at most and not the actual end of days. dun dun dun.
I make the mistake of stacking beautiful, pristine silver coins. Then when the time comes to part with them it is so painful. I need some ugly junk silver now.
That's why I have a mix of generics and artsy pieces. The generics will be the first to be liquidated in retirement, then some of the collectibles that I have duplicates of and the unique pieces would be willed to those who'd appreciate them. Might as well have some pretty ones to show off, especially if you're trying to get someone else into it, they don't need to know that you have a safe full of generics as well.
As long as it's real silver and you can part with it, that's just perfect. Actually, as Mike Adams at NaturalNews has suggested, in a Mad Max scenario you don't want to be walking around with pretty coins. That just suggests you might have a safe full of it at home. Seem like a poor person selling their jewelry and you're much safer until things settle out.
I remember having 30 lbs of junk silver in my suitcase, and the TSA agent was wondering what the fuck I was doing with all those old dimes and quarters. I said back in the day you used to use real money.
I swear there's a special galvanic response in the skin from silver, I've seen so many who didn't care about it suddenly become fascinated after actually holding a silver coin in their hand.
I'd say yes, but I also recently discovered a strong liking and skill for shooting. I'd shrugged it off for years (even with my USMC husband trying to talk me into it). I have never felt more American than I do right now. Wait, do you smell the apple pie I'm cookin'? kek.
Please tell your hubby thank you for his service and Simper Fi. Thanks to you for being the awesome patriot woman that you clearly are. We can't have enough real women like you. WWG1WGA
I can attest to that. My addiction started at about 5 years old when my Grandpappy gave me a 1964 Kennedy half dollar. Back when I was a kid there were still silver dimes and quarters to be found in circulation.
Heck yes! Love seeing the bison and eagles. I imagine this may be the same feeling people experience with sports trading cards, or at the height of POG mania. kek
Definitely! I didn't want to 'promote' unprompted. We actually have a good friend who runs Sunshine Minting (Hayden, ID) and happy to say treated me just like family for this deal. I don't know all the ins and outs but I'm lookin at A LOT of shiny silver buffalo and majestic bald eagles. http://www.sunshinemint.com/
SECOND β¦ Be Very careful what mint product you buy.
Here is why β¦ a few years ago when I started buying Silver en masse, I researched the Mints offering bars and rounds. Sunshine, as I discovered, was buying BLANK silver rounds from CHINA. China is NOTORIOUS for polluting their metal with impurities and selling it as .999 pure.
BUYER BEWARE!!!
Please be careful. Just my advice for my GAW frens.
No fren. Ur good. Dont sweat it. Just be aware from here out where a mint gets its metal. I buy TownSilver products. Partly becuz they are total made in USA, but Mostly becuz they are about 4 hours from me. If my metal is not .999, I dont have far to go to open up some whope ass ππ
Even if they bought it from China if they want to maintain their rep they'd be doing tests on them as well. A lot of crap comes from China but not all of it is junk.
Any suggestions/advice on the goldbacks? I feel like sticking to coin and bars is best for me, but anyone that has opinions on this is greatly appreciated.
I have some. I like having them. I have other hard currency as well. I like the fractional denominations of the goldbacks. Have you seen pictures of them?
I have, like they keep issuing "new dollars" in state themes. Like NV or WY. I dunno. I kinda feel like if white hats are in control than it won't ever get that far (to the point of us needing them...and if we do, then they'll just issue something new/different in their place). And, if the US dollar is fcked then any "US gold backs" are fcked. Again, I dunno. I'm just thinking about when the "fun" times comes: is someone gonna want my silver coin or a "gold back.' On the other hand: my husband's survival mode is bullets..."he who has the bullets has the power": He is in full pirate mode...whatever we need we will take. #survivalofthefittest and all, right?
The goldbacks are actual gold, encased in a polymer sheet. They are issued by the state, so they really aren't US dollars. But, there's plenty of other things for you to buy.
I feel like I'm keeping some lower denominal fiats for this reason. Like if everything went tits up, I could still probably give someone $5 fiat for their loaf of bread, no? I think normies would still accept it, even in the apocalypse...
Congrats. Agree real money and addictive!!! Have fun!
I almost feel like a pirate with all my plunder. kek
I got so much booty...
Kek π

Awesome, me too!
Just got a 1kg chunk of silver the size of a cell phone from JM bullion.
Also got 700 bucks worth of GME from computershare.
Would have never known about this if not for this forum!ππππ
I went all in on DWAC. Same. Love this community!

Awww...true dat... does all the beach jewelry I buy in Mexico count?

Thats why I have junk silver.

The next most exciting part of this venture will be deciding where you are going to bury your treasure for safe-keeping.
Montana is calling my name...
Welcome to the club fellow stacker. I'll warn you that this becomes addictive and this probably won't be your last one. :)
I swear there's a special galvanic response in the skin from silver, I've seen so many who didn't care about it suddenly become fascinated after actually holding a silver coin in their hand.
Hence all my pirate plundery feels. I will use my siren's call to lure any and all seamen to their watery demise.

Please share what you bought, from whom, the service, etc. and your recommendations. Thanks Fren!

aw man...blow to my heart. Maybe still better, or equal to leaving it as fiat dollar in my bank's savings account?

I love holding a few silver eagles in my hands. Pour them from one hand to the other & listen to the sound they make.
I am giggling like a schoolgirl. This is one of the most amazing feelings I've ever experienced. Seriously, can I be both pirate and Siren ;)
Dont you love the sound they make when they clinc together ?
And by few, you mean 20? 20 is a bit much for one hand ;)
Together ape strong
