God gave us agency, we don't have to behave like animals. But consider the following scenario: You are told that you may no longer have sex with women; you must suppress your attraction to them; you must have romantic relationships with men; you must be sexually aroused by men.
The degree to which you are able to make that choice is the same degree to which your average gay man can choose not to be gay.
I can believe they don't have a choice simply because of how bad it grosses me out on an instinctual, guttural level. There has to be something in their brains that suppresses that entirely.
Well I'll try to explain. Believe it or not, we have the same emotional framework that you have. You might fall in love with a woman - you like her personality, you like that she's soft and nurturing and kind, you like that she looks good to you. When you're making the life choice to be with her, you're not exactly focused on the mechanics and sloppy, messy biology of how you're going to rail her on your wedding night.
Same with us. Quality gay relationships are about emotional fulfillment just like straight ones are. Everything else is incidental. The only difference is that we can't form those relationships with women.

I have listened to abused people for decades as a volunteer at recovery centers. It's almost always the same story. Stop kidding yourself to make it easier for you to cope with the fact that someone close to you was molested and you can't stand to be honest about it.
Well, I'm gay and I had a charmed childhood. As far as I know, only one man in my circle of gay friends was molested as a child.
How about considering that the people who ended up at recovery centers were often there because they had been molested? You can't extend your observation of that select group to the entire population.
Sexuality is a very complex attribute. I have no doubt you heard the stories you claim, and I have no doubt that some of those people embraced homosexuality as a coping mechanism, just as they embraced the substance abuse that landed them in recovery centers. But it is absolutely NOT anything close to universal.
It's also worth remembering that most abused boys are abused by STRAIGHT men. Abusing kids isn't about sexuality, it's about power, and the gender of the victim isn't particularly important to that goal. Pedophiles are generally opportunistic.
A gay man is attracted to MEN - and guess what? A boy looks a lot more like a girl than he does like a man.

This is an awesome write up.. I don't know that I fully believe that it is authentic, but if it is it wouldn't be entirely surprising because it's true and they know it at least the ones that are rational thinkers.
