My mother was an early elementary teacher. She hated kids who were self thinkers and who could work with their hands....those who couldn't be programmed with their indoctrinations. When she hated you, she tried to destroy you. I can't imagine how many kids she ruined in school. These people even if exposed can not be fired due to the unions. Hey teacher, leave them kids alone. All in all you're just another brick in the wall....
Our education system needs to be torn down and built up again. Something is wrong when you can earn a full ride to Harvard but not have the knowledge to put air in your tire or cook scrambled eggs.
She hated me. I don't want to toot my own horn but I was/is high IQ...gifted and talented/GATE program, accelerated learning, yet I was at best a solid B student. I didn't care so much about memorizing what I was being told, I wanted to know what it was about. I would always question what I was being taught and realized most of it was complete bullshit. Teachers have very little if any in-depth knowledge of what they're teaching...or much at all for that matter. There's information, knowledge, and wisdom. What, why, and how. I silently laugh to myself when a tradesman hands her a bill for $100/hr and she relentlessly complains about it.
and also I work with my hands. :) Teach your kids a trade. We used to be great, because we made things. Make America Great Again isn't a slogan, it's an order from the President of the United States. Go do it.
I had a similar problem, but not with my mother. The school was attempting to drug me with ridilin and other such drugs, and even strong narcotics.
Reason? In first grade I was reading at a 16 year old level and called my teacher's bluff about doing all the bonus words for extra credit that I wouldn't have to do more spelling for the rest of the year.
Aced it with flying colors, and the immediate response was to take me to the nurse to be evaluated for not listening.
Suddenly I had to take "special lunches" and asked my mother about it. That's when the school villainized me and my brother and looked the other way on outright abuse on school grounds.
A family member led the design of a homeschooling curriculum called K12. They did not use a single teacher to help write any of it. The various subjects within the curriculum were instead assigned to professionals. For example - for math they would hire an active engineer. Someone who actually knows the subject.
Always thought that made such good sense.
Had a principal in middle school, Mr Busch, who proudly carried his "Buschwacker" paddle thru the hallways, always daring to use it (homemade w holes drilled out for max velocity). Creep
Aunt, a 30+ yr 2nd grade teacher, was up for Teacher of the Year in late 70's (FL)... she ruled with an iron fist. I occassionally meet ex students of hers and they still fear her!
Uncle (also 30+ yrs as high school couselor & Princi-pal) once got busted skinny dippin' with students (during early 80's) and yes, ultimately nuthin' happened but a slap on wrist by school board
My older Son and I were laughing about the fact that there were 4 young Men sitting in a Nissan that had a flat tire. 2 were friends of his. 1 has a Masters degrees, one Doctorate, one is a high school teacher, the other one has a degree in Criminal justice.
We were laughing because all of them combined couldn't fix the flat. Typical American education.

upvoted for terse irony
I have a photographic memory. Sometimes it runs out of film....

Stereotypical anon. And here we all are.

When we grew up and went to school, there were certain teachers who would hurt the children any way they could

My lefty aunt and uncle were the same way.
