He didn't do it publicly. Is she saying he personally called her? Or are they starting to worry and getting paranoid because they know what they did and that they didn't cover it up well? And the paranoia comes out in this way. Except it might not be paranoia, hopefully someone is investigating them.
If there are no executions, the plan is a failure and amounts to nothing but a very small road bump on the way to the cabal's eventual, complete and final victory.
