Honestly, I just wished more of the major publishers would act on the practice of making small teams to experiment on ideas. Too many have gone the regurgitating formulas, and then slapping some new Current Thing on their profiles for that hot hot PR.
But for most of SEGA's legacy, like Toejam & Earl, they've sold them back out. SEGA doesn't really have much anymore.
I love Sega of Japan, but IMHO they passed on some surefire opportunities with the Dreamcast, namely not making Nights 2, Burning Rangers 2, and keeping the Shining Force series going. Those Shining games from the PS2 era and beyond are not real Shining Force games. Plus about 12 years ago, Sega of Japan went about zorching everyone's YouTube channels with copyright strikes just for even TALKING about their love the Shining series. That was messed up.
What a shame, many good IPs with sega
Heh, yeah, haven't really cared at all about Sonic since the Genesis days
But they have some good stuff, the Valkyria Chronicles, Bayonetta, Shin megami tensei/Persona, Total War, Yakusa
Very good point
Bold of you to mention Shin Megami Tensei on this forum. 😜

Hah, I had never seen that, not a huge SMT/ Persona fan myself, but I know they have quite the following
Most of them are sold out.
Only major flags now are Sonic Team creations, Yakuza and Persona through Atlus.
I'm very glad Yakuza came forward as a flagship. I'm hoping for an English version of Ishin. (I bought the Japanese version on release)

I take it Maximo is in your name as a GnG reference? 😜
Yakuza is pretty solid, but you're right, Sega leaves a lot of its old IPs in the dust.
Mario Odyssey was a breath of fresh air imo.
