Amish communities do have some good qualities, but they also have plenty of issues. They are very controlled within their own communities to the point where they will shun and reject their own children if the children don't believe and practice as they do when they grow up. They keep their children under-educated and thereby cripple their ability to thrive in the wider world, making it very hard for them to leave. There is a lot of domestic violence and child sexual abuse, including incestuous abuse. They teach young girls that their carelessness was to blame. Maybe they walked around the house not covered up enough. Reporting a rape to the police is often considered worse than raping someone.
Some also have issues with animal cruelty. There is a Belgian Draft Horse rescue that buys auction lots of BDHs in remarkably poor condition from Plain Folk sellers.
They didn’t panic with the MSM fear- mongering, their community takes care of their health situations, off grid living, growing own food, no gender confusion or surgeries, love of God, family, community and county—brilliant!
Amish are self sustained: crops, cattle, little use of electricity or phones (the younger ones with businesses do use phones, not sure about internet), well water. This in reality thwarts disease from limited chemical use in food, drink raw milk, cheeses made from raw milk. Very few obese Amish. They do use our medical system when serious illness occurs. Children are insulated from many of the vices: social media, porn, CRT, race problems, LGBQT. Because of zero electricity they don’t use internet, social media, they have their own schools so don’t need to worry about teaching CRT, LGBQT agenda (no reliance on government aid for breakfast and lunches-so they aren’t forced to teach nor do they have to accept diverse teachers). Their simpler life in some ways has paid off, but there is a lot of inbreeding-so that is the downside. Some farmers have been harshly punished for selling some things-ointments for instance without FDA approval. Another government interference while turning a blind eye to drug running which is worse by far.
oh yeah, there are a percentage of Amish that deal with alcoholism and even drugs, abusive relationships, and so on. There's also the unfortunate problem of inbreeding does happen sometimes too.
Come to florida where communities of Amish live. Driving around in their electric golf arts in their Hawaiian shirts. No shit. All that shun the tech shit is confined to a few strict sects. These people go back to Pennsylvania and New York in the spring
The Amish are definitely hard workers but it's also too cultish for my taste. It would be great if they didn't tell their people who they can and can't have relationships with. I like their off grid living and some have no cell or home phones.
Husband and I are fortunate to live among them. We have become very close with a few families and have learned so much from them over the past 10 years. As a result, our way of living has changed for the better.
Thé Amish have been prepared for what is coming (that cannot be stopped) for 100 years. They have tolerated our mocking of their ´strange ways. ‘ The Amish will have the last laugh.
I don’t think technology is the problem. God gave us the big brain to develop these things and enhance our life. It’s the replacement of technology for God that’s the problem. The decrease in morality and spirituality is the problem.
Although I'm sure they have their issues, I've been thinking they are on a smarter path than the rest of us for decades.

Yeah I've heard about some of that, but our world is full of that shit too... so out of the frying pan into the fire?

Keep in mind they are human, too. Russ Dizdar said there were instances of sexual abuse that were covered up among them, too.
Yes, I am sure that is true.
