People, without realizing it, can be very useful. Understanding people helps ensure that they WILL be useful when put into a position.
You know what to expect ie what they will do/how they'll react and, if your intel plus analysis is good, they behave as expected.
Their knowledge of why they were chosen is not necessary, and, in fact, would usually be " problematic".
