for all the incidents like this where cops done good, there are plenty of examples of police being actual thugs. probably a ratio of thuggery to outnumber good policing. taxi drivers face more danger on a day to day basis. I wont be backing the blue until they start self policing more.
Maybe that was pretty good shooting by your standards. He was only about the length of a yard from them, and for me that is piss poor shooting. If I had been shooting at him from that distance there would be no need for cuffs so yeah they need some range work so the riff raff that shoots at cops doesn't get back on the streets.
I like the sheriff in Florida's answer to the reporters about people that shoot at cops. When they asked why he was shot so many times his reply was they ran out of bullets.
It is the internet, but I am that good. I have a gun in my hand since I was five (all kinds), and I've lived where I am fortunate enough to be able to shoot frequently. I have only met one cop in my life that I think truly could handle his weapon like a professional. If you can't handle it like a professional on the range you'll fall all to shit when the SHTF. That is exactly what happened to those two.
Only one of them was in the wreck, and they had two angles on him. Neither of those angels were 90 degrees, and it is not that hard to learn to lead if you have ever hunted moving game.

Just came from a pursuit,adrenalin rushing,then a head on,punched with an airbag,eyes full of bag dust,worried about background hits in a residential area,drops his man.Thats good shooting.
Officer Salinas is a true warrior! Got his car hit head on, kicked his door open to get out, and ran into the fire. And obviously a family man/gentleman when he initially said "Excuse my language" but then started dropping f bombs when it got even hotter. Much admiration for this officer!
I know this will start an argument... However most LE have switched back to 9MM, for budget reasons, and a lot of officers, can't seem to qualify with anything bigger. But, the .40S&W was developed after that shootout in the 80's where the law was simply outgunned. I like a 9MM for CCW, and for increased mag capacity. However, for stopping power, I like my .40S&W or .45ACP.
I bet, I used to do martial arts with a cop, was a nice guy, said worst thing he ever dealt with was a guy high on pcp in a back alley slinging a crowbar, the put rounds in him but he kept on whacking peoples heads.

I read the perp was DOA at Ben Taub hospital. So I'm thinking their range work paid off well.

They are a lot less trouble if you can shoot them in the head or the heart. They all need to target practice.
