Yes, I think people are generally nervous about automatic downloads, with malware and such becoming huge problems…I guess maybe post a warning and perhaps let everyone know ahead of time…no worries, people are understandably nervous.
people that make comments that used to "piss me off" no longer have any bearing in my life, its a block and move on situation for me. I been using linux for like what seems ever now so I am used to getting me a pdf reader cause they are required if we look anything technical up. I personally have used the internet for almost thirty years and there are still plenty of folks that just cant do anything above FB.
? My browser will say "open (with choice of readers) or download?" And I try to link to the original study or document to avoid all the complaints about quality of the source. So this is now a problem? Some people would complain if they were hanged with a silk rope, methinks.

They use the word download to give you the option to save it.
Otherwise it stays in your browser cache.
But if you look at anything on the internet, it is on your computer, somewhere.
Some of those on mobile attempt a download of the file instead of previewing it. People don't like to click on links that attempt to download something- they think you are trying to scam them. It's not your fault.
People just want to know is all.
I dont think anyone likes a link that forces a download, regardless of who posts it.....

I just take a screenshot of the pdf and post the image. Minimizes the whining.
Incorrect. Everything you see on your screen from a website HAS to be downloaded to your computer memory first. otherwise there's nothing to see.

PS I looked. Check your browser settings, mine have a choice to not download without asking.
