What if I can still taste everything just fine when I do that and the same for when I’m really sick? I have a bad habit of eating as if I’m fine and throwing it up when it’s a bad stomach bug. I don’t lose my appetite at all unless something causes my stomach to hurt
My coffee literally tasted like warm water and I could breath fine. Ivermectin knocked every thing out within three days but for 2 weeks I literally could not taste or smell anything. I held my deodorant up to my nose, nothing. It was the weirdest sensation.
I have, twice, including swine flu in 09. My doctor said it was normal. I was deficient in zinc and had sinusitis most of my life. I probably had low Vit D levels too, because I didn’t supplement back then, and I ate garbage food.

So could it be simply having a blocked nose / inflamed sinuses that causes loss of taste and smell?
