Just a little thought experiment that I would like to introduce to the community through a random neuron that won't go away in my brain.
"If every Corpo just suddenly dissolved (go bankrupt/cease operations/forcefully shutdown/etc.) tomorrow, what would realistically happen to society as we know it?"
I am looking for actual conversation out of this, and the ramification that would happen. How we, as people, would mitigate this newly formed power vaccuum/problem, and what would rise out of the sudden implosion of a very corrupt and greedy arm of the world's economy.
It would be complete chaos. As much as we just like the infrastructure that you set up, to replace it in such a manner, would be complete chaos. I think there would be civil wars, major disruption, food shortages, the inability to have your vehicles repaired, and then there’s our regular infrastructure that includes water, and electricity, and sewage. Those three things alone if they’re not managed properly, would be a huge disparity for mankind. Well at least civilized mankind if that’s what you want to call us now. if all of this was to happen overnight, it would be catastrophic. This doesn’t even touch on prescription medication‘s, medical facilities, and so many other things that we count on on a daily basis. All of these things are tied together. If by your standards, everything happened in one day, there would be worldwide catastrophic events occurring. And then guess what would happen… Idiots like Bill Gates, the Rockefellers, and all the other so-called philanthropist would show up to try and save the day, which would put us all in human slavery. They’re trying to do that now, but if all the corporations dissolved overnight, they would be able to do that quick. Real quick. People would easily sell their soul for a loaf of bread.
Depends on how you define Corporation. Most Businesses large and small can be considered a Corporation at least on paper. LLC for instance is an acronym for limited liability corporation. And the typical small business in the states is usually an LLC.
Solely talking about the giants though. Chaos pure and simple. You can’t dissolve the largest employers in the country and expect things to go well. Or for things to remain stable.
For one thing. The majority of the country is no longer being paid. Which for most means they can’t afford to buy what’s left on the shelf. If they can even find someplace open.
Another you’d also absolutely destroy Small Businesses. Given how many either sprang up as supporting industries to large corporate enterprises. Or are in some way reliant on the corporations to remain in business. Like if they’re purchasing products to resell.
Anyone reliant on any sort of pharmaceutical to either live, or ensure a quality of life, has probably a couple months maybe a year or two depending on the specific condition. Before their either dead or rendered invalid and wishing they were.
Livestock and Pet Food production would more or less end up crippled if not outright ended.
Food production over all would be crippled.
Any form of communication more advanced then a letter would probably cease functioning in short order.
National Power Grids would likely be crippled without Military intervention to take over for now defunct power companies.
In essence the most likely result would be outright global collapse. Can’t just eliminate something so critical with nothing to replace it.
I would think for this to start happening wouldn't banking corporations have to go under/ as in go bankrupt?
And in doing so possibly freeing people from credit card debit?
It's a wild thought...
Most people would immediately get to work on trying to recreate them. They are still conditioned to think they need to be in constant competition with each other. However, as they try to recreate corps again they will do so very quickly compared to the slow boil we've been under, and then... maybe they will learn...
My guess.
Lots and lots of privately owned small businesses. Like God intended. :)
Because I work for one, I think about this often...told someone the other day that working for such a huge company feels like a simulation and that the feeling only grows stronger with every passing day. As much as I despise aspects of the corporate model, without them I think we would be up Shit's Creek for a long time. Our world is built around such places and their contributions to our economies. I think our society would truly collapse and it would be Mad Max in a matter of hours. Think about car makers, airplane factories, etc. I think we would be worse for wear.
Persons are corporations. If ALL corporations were dissolved, people would be freed from all their debts and freed from legislation.
I'd be all for this. Make it happen.
I would be pissed off, I have stock in some of these..
