This summed it up perfectly. All the hippies are now full on corporate shills.
The hippies were the first step in their war on America. The color revolution has been going on a lot longer than many people believe.
As a boomer I declare we got played. It was all a psyop. I did lots of psychedelics. Not without consequence. None of my “old friends” found their way out of the purple haze.
I did try to tell them the shadows on the cave wall weren’t reality, and a quick peek out the end of the tunnel would tell it all. They exiled me.
Coexist bumper sticker types. Irony not lost.
Being a hippie was a helluva lotta fun though. But certainly not all of us stayed that way. Some became conservative when they wanted to earn a living, and some when they had kids.
I was a diehard. I started reading Plato. Just on a whim. That snapped me out of it. I’ve learned more the last 20 years than the previous 50 twice over.
I kind of agree. What I think happens is a beautiful thing gets created by the people and then as time passes the evil envelops it and slowly turns it into cancer.
That video at the end had to be a parody. If not, that's the 4-6% Q was refering to.
That video was cancer
Funny. You can bet that Neil Young got his jab(s).
I shall defer to Lynard Skynard on the subject of Old Neil.
a male karen shall forever be known as neil
Thanks for this. I needed a pick-me-up.
Who'd have thought that being conservative nowadays would be punk?
The reason new(proper) metal has NEVER made it back to the charts short of 'established' bands like Metallica, they saw something they couldn't control and a mentality they couldn't rein in.....
Most(not all, are some stupid shit in there that has given metal the reputation it has, fairly good chance that was intentional in the way they(Kazahrians) do with many things...) of the lyrics are fight songs and about all the things that allow people to stand alone and retain their strength and integrity.
Not for nothing that people that have never been to metal show universally report it as the best concert experience they have ever had with the friendliest people they have ever met at any concert, now combine that with the kind of lyrics and mentality metal-heads want/value/promote and you have some rather 'problematic' people...
Interesting, I’m mega conservative and a metal head for 35 years now.
Don't really like defining myself as conservative as I'm not, I'm liberal in the old-school anarchist(politically libertarian is the closest) sense of the term, 'liberal' and 'conservative' is a distinction they created for reasons that are rather obvious when you start looking at the associations these terms create...
That said, the majority of metal heads are somewhere on the sensible freedom-loving right side of the political spectrum...
Was this guy(Norwegian I think, is mentioned in a metal documentary) 1-2 decades ago that did a doctorate study on music and social position/psychology, a bit into the study he completely stopped listening to certain bands...
Music preferences are tied into most peoples core personality, not their apparent one but their actual core, aggressive personalities(not emotions..) tend to prefer aggressive music, intelligent people tend to prefer complex music, metal defines both to a point where much of it surpasses classical music both in complexity as well as range and depth....
That defines my musical tastes even more as my very favorite music is instrumental metal with no vocals. I have about 600 songs on my instrumental metal favorites list on Spotify.
My somewhat eclectic soundcloud likes list, actually some EDM at the top (but even that fits the psychology...), the rest is pretty much all metal

Don't have a preference for no vocals as much as a preference for female vocals(as a dude it is more enjoyable to hear a female voice) when there are vocals..
Completely agree, I like a lot of goth female metal, my favorite being Nightwish. But mostly when Tarja was still with them. And arch enemy is the only growly metal I can take cuz Alissa is so dang hot and they have really good riffs. Their fun to play along with on guitar too.
Also, see you have a lot of Kobra and the Lotus on there- good band and super hot vocalist. Saw them with Fear Factory about ten years ago and had never heard of them. Me and the wife were one of the first ones at the concert site and she was working out before the show. She grabbed some dumbells from the bus and went inside and then she came out in jogging clothes and went running. Later when she came out as the lead singer we were like heyyy…that girl. 😂
