I think that any crime which is aggravated by an abuse of authority should carry multiples of the standard sentence.
For example, this policeman should go to prison for 5 times the length that an ordinary person should because he abused his position to commit this crime. He did it because he thought he could get away with it.
Same with a lawyer or a judge caught lying or a medical person intentionally injuring people.
No, you're not over reacting. People who hold positions of responsibility should be held to account against a higher standard - because their actions can damage the reputation of otherwise good people.
You are absolutely correct- my husband is a retired LEO-hr STILL leads his daily activities as if he is being watched by the public- he understands cops take an path TO KNOW BETTER AND DO BETTER.
But sadly The Purge of critical thinkers has left police depts with less experienced yes men &women

I like it. Those professions are dealing with very vulnerable people.
Deprivation of rights under color of law - I'm gonna post it too because it gives me a real justice boner.

Shit like this makes me inch closer towards ACAB.
14th Amendment, equal PROTECTION under the law.
Not at all.
