Joe Prich @MrJoePrich 9h · Chicago has to call up their National Guard because today is Mexico's independence day
I'm gonna repeat that
Chicago...like United States Chicago, has to deploy soldiers on their streets because Mexicans are celebrating their independence.....in the United States....by lighting cars on fires and engaging in 60 person brawls
That's how you celebrate Mexico's independence
By lighting a car on fire in a completely different country 1000's of miles from your beloved homeland
If they like mexico so much go back there.
Some Mexican people believe the gringos stole part of Mexico from them, so with that attitude, they are taking back what they believe belongs to them.
Then what's Cinco de Mayo?
Battle of Puebla. Big battle, part of their revolutionary war. Against the French. (Washington crossed the Delaware to kill German mercenaries, so ... same deal, just French.) Small to zero celebration in Mexico. Big marketing thing here.

I live in the city. Saw some cars with Mexican flags, nothing too crazy. Maybe Pilsen or Little Village is rock'n?
Edit: So 6 hours later from my earlier post.... Coming home from a friends' anniversary and the entire Loop, downtown highways, West Loop River West and River North neighborhoods are a shit show. Took me an hour to drive what would normally be a 10 minute drive. Vehicles with Mexican flags basically gridlocked the City tonight.
How many of those "Mexicans" are actually Mexican?
I wouldn't think many, here in the DC area the Latino population that is Mexican is pretty slim. At least in years past it was, may have changed though.
Either way, sounds like we're getting those that other countries don't want...
I was out last night.
I saw this all over the place. This is new. I haven’t seen this before.
I was in Mexico during their Independence celebrations. They have fireworks and musical performances. They don't set cars on fire. They don't have 60 person brawls. Somehow they have been taught (paid?) to act thuggishly. . .George Floyd riots imitation?
I mean the Ghettos in the major cities the majority of Hispanic immigrants both legal and illegal end up in. Are usually crime ridden crapholes. Controlled by one or more Gangs. Or by an American branch of one of the Cartels.
So it’s not unexpected various competing criminal outfits would come to blows during celebrations and festivities when everyone is out and about in those neighborhoods.
I didn't see any cars on fire. Just saw a lot of people in cars with a flag making tons of noise.
It was now.. never seen this in the past.
