while I understand people texting can be annoying and very dangerous, this "law" similar to seatbelt laws is complete bullshit. the world is a dangerous place. realize that and teach your kids that and we'll be much better off. we don't need this kind of "protection" provided by the government.
don't get me wrong, I long for the days of no cell phones again but ain't happening
DUI laws are also a violation. Prosecute people for bad driving, not for the content of their blood. Or else be consistent and give vaxxers DUIs, in order to prevent vaxxidents.
nope not how it works with me I hope and wish for others. what if you lose someone to an old person that shouldn't be driving? imho we need to take blame where we should and realize life is fleeting and it's a dangerous world. to be hit head on would indicate both parties must have been distracted. if someone is veering into your lane you should be aware and making your best move to avoid it although I certainly recognize this can be difficult in the moment and there may be no escape route in certain circumstances
my mother was killed by a doctor. he fucked up bad. my reaction was to communicate with that doctor and hear him acknowledge he fucked up. he did that. I could have used the shit out of him and the hospital but I believe we need to forgive and spread love, not hate and revenge. even if selfishly, carrying that much anger and continually revisiting things of this nature I believe ways heavily on the soul and only serves to kill you figuratively and literally whether mentally or physically or both
In the past 12 months I've been in at least one near miss accident a month due to someone watching their phone instead of the road.
Just yesterday, this girl sat at a light for a good 20 seconds before driving off while she finished a text. People going around her, flashing their lights, honking their horn... and this chick was totally oblivious or just ignoring them all on purpose while she typed away.
They're lucky. I want to plow my shitbox old ranch truck into ones who think their phone needs more attention than the vehicle they're operating. AND I'M NOT HOMELESS. There's a great chance that I could drive away from it, too.

Well they OBVIOUSLY didn't know how IMPORTANT her text was... answering LOL to some cat videos.
Good. This should be happening more often.
