First he had a hit with the Dirty Laundry song in 1982, skewering the fake news.

Then in 1990 Don Henley spoke at a huge rally at the St. Louis Union Station against the record album-labeling scam being pushed by Airhead Al Gore's airhead wife Tipper. (Govt wanted to force artists and record companies to pay for placing all the lyrics on the record in full view on the outside of the jacket so parents could "PROTECT THEIR CHILDREN.")

Henley referred pointedly to the "horrible creeping sameness" taking over the country at the time.
