So, I just watched watched one of the Dark Crystal for the first time with my Grandkids. It’s (whichever one has the pic of old heavyset character puppet as cover. . I’m talking Jim Hensen puppet movie. So, there’s a part where the old vultures draw a Gelfling into a cave and they hook her up to pumps and use a crystal to drain the life from her and collect some sort of whitish fluid into a vial from her.
Now that I have learned alot on here, I’m thinking Adrenochrome.
The Princess Bride has that soul sucking machine in it... kinda similar too.
Yep
"The Pit of Despair"🐸
The pituitary of despair.?

Blind Items Revealed #5 July 15, 2020
He would sucker you in with the shows and the wholesome image, but it was the movies that he showed his true vision. He was A+ list and was a director and a head of a studio and a behind the scenes performer. With his television shows, he made parents feel it was safe to take kids to see his movies, even when they seemed like they might be too much. There is a prequel streaming right now of one of his biggest visions. He made a movie decades ago that encompassed everything he believed and always thought if he could get kids to watch it, that he could somehow control them. The movie was essentially about mind control, rituals and blood sacrifice disguised as a children's movie. He said he wanted to make those kinds of movies so kids would get used to those ideas and think of them as normal later in life.
Jim Henson/Dark Crystal/Labyrinth
That’s heart breaking. Everything I thought I liked in the world of entertainment is shit.
Oh, I hope not - I met him years ago at a sci-fi con. He would not even sing along with a slightly naughty song we were all singing, even though no kids were present.
And Dark Crystal does end with the evil characters vanquished, so there's that... not sure what other films of his would be "too much" for children. The Muppet movies are all entirely wholesome unless I missed something. Muppet Christmas Carol is beautiful. Dark Crystal is the only one I know of with truly evil characters, but sometimes you need those to tell a story.
CDAN is usually pretty good, but I hope they're wrong on this one.
Adrenochrome is just a taste of absolute evil. It leads in child torture, child snuff films, human hunting, and humans in cages bred like machines.
EVIL
I was mentally scarred for two weeks after reading about it.
‘The 100 ‘ when they go to the mountain
My only question is this… If it made you feel uncomfortable, just imagine how it made your grandchildren feel. If you’re watching a show like that, and you see that type of evil, you can shut it off. Find something better for them to watch. The underlying messages in the shows are disturbing at best. God bless you and have a great day
Actually we did change the channel right at that point
So happy to hear that. And, I did see your interview, and I was very touched. I see Jesus is working in your life and I think it’s awesome.
Hocus Pocus as well.
Stealing youth from kids has been around for a while. Just about every culture has some myth or folktale surrounding it.
The big "what if" is if it's not just fantasy, but based on reality.
Monsters, Inc.
There are a lot of references to the Dark Crystal in ordinary life: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EedI2fqVAAAPDPQ.jpg
Ewww!! Well I don’t think that could’ve been any creepier! I am sure there has to be one for Rauz in Monsters. Inc.
It’s a weird classic. Probably more truth than fiction lol
The skeksis had to resort to draining the life essence from the pod people because the gelflings had been hunted to extinction. I hope we are not supposed to represent the pod people!
"MmmMMMMmmmm"🐸
In that high pitched slow motion yodeling sound!
Creepy af!
Didn’t continue watching the rest
Woah! Creepy, never knew any of that. I grew up on the Muppet Show and loved it/. I never dreamed there was anything sinister about it.
you got it!
Crystals, as well as diamonds, symbolize stored blackmail. "Diamonds are forever".
And unfortunately my birthstone, though opal is my favorite
Allegedly he was killed over either this or the Labyrinth.
Jim Henson? But over what?
