I lived in Big Bear. You think you are driving off that mountain right now? Do you have M/S tires? Going down the front way, or the back way? Back way road is narrower and tighter curves but you get to flatland a lot faster plus you are not on the fog and ice side of the mountain. Go out the baldwin lake way. Road comes out in lucerne valley and take hwy to Victorville. That said, I really recommend you stay put and not travel in the icy dark. You are risking a great deal.
Wish I could help! Went thru ice storm in Oregon 2 years ago, no power/heat for 12 days. Slept in two layers of clothes inside two sleeping bags with my cat, eating cold chilli out of a can!
Wow! We went through the Texas ice storm winter before last. Ice is the worst! It downs trees and power lines. We could hear tree limbs falling for days. Many trees dead. Most have limbs gone now from the north facing side.
Luckily we filed bathtubs, used styrofoam to seal off other rooms in the house and lit fireplace. Chopped wood during the day. Fed the fire all night. The worst was about 5 days where everyone was stuck from frozen roads. Neighbors came and filled buckets from our pool for their animals. Top few inches was frozen.
What is with these weird ice storms? Playing with the weather?
If you can burn anything in a fireplace or something, do that.
Have everyone double up on clothing.
After the elderly and infants are doubled up on clothing, have them huddle together under some blankets. Group warmth will help.
If you have any way to light a gas stove, heat up some water and drink the warm water. If you have any water containers you can fill them up with hot water and huddle under the blankets with them using them as heat packs.
Get in the smallest room you can, preferably an upstairs one, close the door, and if you have extra blankets, drape them over the windows if you can to help reduce heat loss and insulate the room.
Stuff another blanket or towel or shirt in the crack under the door to stop drafts.
Vacationing in a timeshare it sounds like and there is no management of that timeshare to demand help from? And you're planning to leave during such a bad storm? That doesn't sound safe, either

PS Remember cars are basically tin cans when the AC/heat is off. No insulation. No heat if you use up the gas. No way to get out at a favorable moment if you used up the gas for heat. Take it from a former Coloradian, a cold house is better than a cold car.
Now that you are calm--it all could have been so much worse. You could have been in a really cold place, for instance, where it was below zero. You could have been on the coast in Oregon where it isn't so cold, but cold enough for hypothermia, and in an ice storm where the power is out for weeks and getting out is a long, long drive, assuming the roads are passable. For heavens sake, learn about what to do in emergencies, always carry flashlights and mylar blankets and a crank radio that will recharge your phone. Sorry to sound harsh but crying because the babies are crying is not a plan. You survived, you can survive worse, you just have to be prepared. God bless.

Thank you guys. I walked up to the office for help and I cried the whole way to and fro. I’m all weepy and apparently the babies cry broke my heart. We have an emergency power outage. I was able to get extra blankets but we have no power and are relying on candles. Keep us in your prayers. I’m sad that the men in our Groupon didn’t step up.

Double your clothes, two pairs of socks, 2 pairs of pants if you can, layer as many shirts as you can. The layers will trap heat between.

You should have fire burning, in that area most have stoves/woodstoves.
Light blankets over head to hold in warm air to breathe - make sure to lift off every once in awhile to maintain fresh air. Be close to one another.

If you have a tent set it up in your house. Use sleeping bags, rugs to pile up, whatever you have. Throw extra blankets on top of the tent.
Burn the governors mansion for warmth.
If you have some cars you can sit in them with the heaters on for awhile.

I don't know if any help but read recently about setting up camp tents on your bed and sleeping in them increase temp heaps. Praying for you all xx
