As another fellow Texan, I can say that Houston is our swamp land, just like Austin is, but not as "noticeable." You can even throw in Dallas county into the mix. They've slowly taken control of our major cities, and if you look at the past election maps, you can clearly see these major cities have been blue for some time now, surrounded by a sea of red.
Big cities continue to be the bane of our existence.
I moved from Harris county in 2021 to Williamson county north of Austin. In our election yesterday we had 1 democrat win in the county that I could find; a Justice of the Peace in Round Rock. Needless to say, I feel a lot more at home here!
