Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis is a must for the deep thinker, but I loved his book The Great Divorce because of the vivid depictions. There are a lot more... I'll come back.
Grandmother Winter, by Lynn Garlick, Taos artist...a beautifully crafted story about the animals, winter solstice, presented as for kids, but adults enjoy as well...the animals bring the reader right into the story...have given several away as church gifts, etc...
Any and all books by Terry Pratchett, but "Hogfather" is of a holiday bent and will make you shoot beverages out of your nose. Best opened before Christmas
