For personal computer (PC). I suggest to first migrating to the free Linux. Then your Linux will be your free antivirus 🛡️. I suggest either the free Linux Mint LMDE or Linux Debian.
If you elect to use Microsoft Windows then you should not expect privacy, no amount of "virus protection" is going to defeat the fundamental purpose of windows, which is surveillance,

If you're running Windows, Windows Defender is free and all the AV you need.

I've had good experience with Avast, but I don't know anything about computers🐸 It was just recommended highly to me by people who do.
