Wow. You really decided to ratchet up the intensity of this to 1000 when I never stated I had any intention of taking this down.
As someone who has been suicidal in the past, I would never want to use something like this for personal gain. It is a tragedy. I also never thought of committing suicide in a public place that could scar other people, especially children. So Disneyland seems like a weird place to me, unless it has connections to his father, his father’s work in the parks, and, god forbid, if his dad did things to him as a child that carried into his adult suffering.
As a woman, I can’t help but find your comments about his wife driving him to this and making false accusations a little overly broad. Of course stuff like that happens. But men in divorce situations have done things like that in the past as well.
I think I’m more interested in this statement about his father than this guy’s tragic end:
He and his hand-picked young musicians collaborated with world-renowned artists and celebrities each summer,” wrote Peter Wilson, the former string section commander for “The President’s Own” US Marine Chamber Orchestra, according to Theme Park Insider.
As was stated earlier in the article:
Jim Christensen also served as music director and conductor of the Disney All-American College Orchestra from 1984 to 1992 at Epcot’s American Gardens Theatre, the outlet reported.
We all know the troubled lives Mouseketeers like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Brock Pierce have lived since their time with Disney as child stars. I find this man’s father’s connections to the musical programs of Disney far more important than his son’s unfortunate demise. I do think they may very well be related, though.
I think I was very tactful and respectful. I said, "I'd give careful consideration..." I don't understand what you mean when you say, "...I never stated I had any intention of taking this down."
My point in presenting a case where a wife might make libelous accusations in order to gain control of children is not without precedent, and I made that statement as a counterpoint...not because I was trying to make a broader statement against women in general. In this case, and all, we must carefully consider both sides.
Clearly, there were some mental stability issues here with the deceased. Did you give pause to consider WHY he might have gone to Disney to do this? In his moment of despair, perhaps he reverted back to comfort he received from his father. Do you know that long-time employees of Disney can get special passes for family? Do you know the details about when he actually jumped? Did he do it in front of others, to potentially "...scar other people," as you put it? I don't know these details. It seems presumptuous, unless you know these details for a fact, to project it upon him. It seems more likely that he picked a place that had meaning to him, that he had access to, and was high enough to accomplish what he had in mind.
His father hand-picked musicians? That happens all the time! Have you ever heard of tryouts? There is nothing insidious about this! I was closely involved in MANY different musical programs for my school years, and following school. I was in concert bands, marching bands, orchestras, jazz ensembles, choruses, and church choirs. It is simply not accurate, or fair, to denigrate directors who devote their lives to music, and children, with an ugly paint brush. We need people like this!
Yes, we can certainly point to some child stars, or Nickelodeon, as evidence of some problems at Disney. But to then jump to the assumption that the entire well is poisoned is not rational.
Again, if you have evidence, then my apologies, but let's see it. Otherwise, you are insinuating something terrible, here, and it doesn't reflect well upon this board. You have cast a shadow over an innocent person, a family member, with no evidence. You say it's "...far more important?" Why? Whatever happened to giving someone the benefit of the doubt?
You can't assume you are free from criticism when you post something controversial as you have. It behooves all of us to try to raise standards here, and expect more from each other.
I misunderstood your previous edit. Apparently, you were telling me to consider taking this down because you disagree with sharing it here.
We aren’t going to agree on this.
I feel bad that this man was clearly troubled. There was likely something else going on either in their relationship or in his life to force him into this kind of drastic action over « one bad night. »
But something in this story does not add up.
Think whatever you’d like of me. I don’t think I’m above receiving criticisms. But I also don’t make edits like the one you added after your well-formed argument tsk-tsking people for posting things I don’t agree with. I simply don’t comment.
As for your comment about handpicking musicians, Disney normally has massive casting calls for their parades and performers. They do not single musicians or performers out through separate procedures, unless there’s a really good reason to do so, or something not great is occurring. I know this because, as part of high school band, they told us their entire audition process for musicians as well as characters.
The public hiring policy is that they always have a mass casting call.
If this was just a family tragedy, I don’t think the NY Post would still be reporting on it. Nor would they be drawing attention to his father’s role with what is arguably one of the trademarks of the Disney parks—the music. But that’s just me.
Sorry to interfere, but... you both make valid, articulate, passioned arguments? I'm sitting here privately kinda hoping that you simply shake hands, agree to disagree and carry on, head high?
You're both assets to our little fam and, well, sometimes shit habbens... and from my view- you're both winners ;)
Thank you. I generally try to tread lightly and not "rock the boat," but this just seemed something that needed saying. My apologies if what I said disturbed people, or seemed overly confrontational.
Definitely overly confrontational and covering for Pedo Disney. You seem to have some kind of weird ownership of what is "ok" on this board. I would say, Fuck off, Groomer.
If you don’t think modern women are 90% of the problem is this progressive society then you have some more waking up to do.
Women drive men to suicide constantly. Wives leave their husbands and destroy their families at an alarming rate. Wives steal the children from their husbands via CPS with crocodile tears and false accusations. Women kill more unborn children than Ghengis Khan could have dreamed of doing. Women are voting in the progressive demise of western society. I love women. I despise modern progressive women, and everything about this story and this family points to exactly that.
If we should be jumping to any conclusions it’s that what he said in his post was accurate and his wife finally drove him off the edge.
I know full well what love is. This guy clearly didn’t, but no doubt thought he did. Men don’t need “love” like women do. They need respect, and all that has happened in modern society is men get neither respect nor love, and live meaningless lives of slavery providing for family. So now add to that a wife who has you arrested because you raised your voice? What’s there to live for in his limited view
