Some DOOMER way back in December 1813 named Richard Rush wrote to his old friend John Adams about the mood in Washington D.C.: "The prospect looks black. It is awful. Is not another torrent rolling too fiercely upon us to be turned back?" Adams replied, “The times are too serious to write.” AND YET—

Your ripples are noticed. Your faith is rewarded. And your patriotism is appreciated. Celebrate the change of the world. Merry Christmas, and God Bless America.
Thank you for all that you do here.
God Bless Canada, also. I have good friends that live there and (I think) you do, too?
Yes. I live in the best city in Alberta, one of the provinces up here. Thanks, fren! I appreciate these very kind words.
Of course, Fren.
The natural beauty of the mountains and lakes in Canada is so stunning.
I hope everyone takes inspiration from this wonderful piece. Enjoy, GAW!
I was in a really foul mood tonight till I read this. Then I wasn't.... I needed that read. I took inspiration from this and it is wonderful. American perseverance will prevail. Thanks Catsfive. I needed that.
You're welcome. And, what I wouldn't, to see some meat drapes right about now :-)
I've noticed the War of 1812 isn't discussed much.
It's a rabbit hole all on its own. Like the original 13th amendment
Our true American patriots on GAW here teach us Canadian mods so much about the true history of the USA (even tho I have a "minor" in US history from "College"). Love having you guys around here
Up vote for "college."
KEK, it totally was
Tell me more. A red pill moment in my past before I knew it was the the local library costing over 15 mil pre-2005 had every movie imaginable but not The Patriot. Come to think of it seem like Hollywood wants no part in telling the American roots. There is unbeatable when the people unite in a true common cause. Look to Brazil
Reading about it now. Absolutely brutal treatment of prisoners by some tribes.
Looks like the Brits lost in large part for the same reason they lost in 1783. A long supply train from Britian to the Americas. They couldn't live off the land. Seems odd they couldn't feed guys in Canada, even.
Brits were shocked by the effectiveness of the large US frigates. Nelson saw one of them in Gibralter in 1805 and said they were going to be trouble.
God bless you all too. And Merry Christmas!! 🎅🏽🎅🏽😇😇
Very good, and positive hope inspiring article. Thanks for finding the nugget of gold.
I sift through 350+ nuggets of ROCK for every nugget of gold that gets posted, fren
That was a great article, thanks for sharing!
The Christmas of 1814 is a fantastic but forgotten story in American history. Here is a podcast episode on it:

Thank you for this! Merry Christmas.
Great read. Thanks fren. I’m ashamed of my knowledge of history. These stories are way better than anything on tvs or in movies nowadays. No wonder they don’t want people knowing about it.
Thanks for this. I needed it.
