Gas is usually cheapest is the winter most years until February to early March when demand increases. Then urban areas is April tack on a sizable per gallon tax for pollutions. Fear not, gas prices will go up again.
No. We have enough diesel in the storage system to supply the country for 25 days. If, and only IF production were completely halted would we run out in 25 days. Certain fools went Chicken Little and spread the rumor that the sky was falling and we were all doomed.
Why does the price of everything keep increasing as gas prices go down? This is what is so frustrating to me. I paid $9.15 for 18 eggs last weekend! Beef prices are coming down though. I’m getting prime rib for Christmas dinner!
Friend of mine who lives in Virginia noted that if you buy medium eggs rather than large or extra large, the price is a lot cheaper like $2.50/dozen. Has anyone else noticed this? *My problem is stores around here don't carry medium size eggs anymore )
I picked up some meats for storage a couple weeks ago, chicken was half the price it had been recently and beef was down a third. I filled the freezer with as much as I could afford.
No, their was a post saying it's a fire sale before the famine. Something about drawdown the supply. Really think. Midterms no covid measures and lots of easing of restrictions. Fuel prices down, Christmas and everyone traveling. No sky high prices. But after Christmas. Watch it all sort of head sky-high. Railway strike anyone.
Gas prices typically dip in the winter months. It's easier to drill during the summer, making it cheaper, and that gas reaches the pumps in winter. Then comes the summer price hike from the winter-drilled gas, and increased demand from travellers.
I was explaining that to a normie coworker who was trying to brighten the day with "the prices are going down now", I'm reminding him "don't you remember when the gas prices fell due to low demand while most people were sitting at home?" What's extra stupid of him is that we work in the petrochem industry.

Diesel used to be cheaper than gas because it required less processing. Figure that one out.
Wasn't diesel supposed to run out by now?

IIRC, there's usually a sixty day supply in the system, which is why it started spreading.
That was a rolling number. Ie theres more produced daily
I'm wondering what happened to that myself, we're weeks past the projected date.
Biden has dumped strategic oil reserve on the market, that will be consumed and prices will sky rocket.
Diesel prices drop and rise slower because they are linked to industry. And they do their budgets ahead of time and like it that way.
That one is a puzzler. In the future, we will connect with an energy that loves us.
Yup because diesel is what trucks use. You make that difficult to get and you ever the entire supply chain.

We saw 2.39 near San Antonio.
...gasoline prices go down in the winter due to less demand...
...fuel oil prices are what you need to watch now....
Here is the primary reason.
Gasoline producers have shifted to Winter mix which is less costly to make.
Prices generally drop a little in the Fall because of this
Stock up Homie.
same price drop here in new england over lthe last week.. just a pacifier during xmas travel time?
Or reflecting low demand as so many people cancel their plans to travel during the holidays.
Saw $2.37 last night (central Texas).
Supply and demand, people are buying food instead of gas and diesel. The previous high prices will return soon.

just wait until january gets here. it will rise like crazy.
$2.59 at a Costco in NE Ohio.
Just today dropped from $2.40 to $1.99 per litre for diesel in South Australia after months at that price.
I actually noticed a small price drop in some items at the grocery the last couple weeks.

Same where we live. Hitting at $2.80/gal.
Biden blowing through the strategic reserve.
