Just a place for general discussion. A place to unload whats on your mind and talk about anything - personal, health, help needed, achievements, daily highs and daily lows, theories, predictions and what have you.

Wow - had me quite a blessing: went into my village store and spied a massive leg of lamb reduced from £18.89 to £4.05 (BB date 27th). Asked an assistant to check in case it was a mistake and she said no - bargain of the year!
Wondering if maybe its meant for me or someone else...
Yummy jackpot🎰
Wow..that was very good value...where I live they don't reduce by much..so mostly I think it's best to buy fresh..but with meat it doesn't matter. I try to buy organic meat when reduced. I am hoping it's not mRNA jabbed as I don't know if cooking destroys the crap in it ..I hope it does.
I knew someone who worked for frozen food supplier and he said some of the joints of meat etc were frozen for many years.
It's good I think that manufactures are now putting longer sell by dates on food. Young people are throwing away perfectly good food due to its sell by date..even best before...when you remember years ago no fridges even and you judged food ok if it smelt and looked ok. Eggs etc in fact nothing was dated....you only knew if an egg was bad when you Cracked it....and it stunk. .
we cannot just be wasting good food in the way we do in UK. Some years ago there was already collections from supermarkets of past sell by date as the public were horrified it was all binned. There was an outcry.
I went to one of a chain of restaurants who do roasts with Yorkshire pudding veg and gravy. When they carve the big joints of meat they stop carving when they can't get whole big slices and they throw it away. Not even the staff are allowed to take it home. I consider this criminal with the amount of homeless due to only immigrants being put up in hotels and given laptops and phones. This was a few years ago and I hope things have changed.
What happens in USA?
Meat is not the only stuff that gets frozen, much of "fresh fish" too. AND veg! I was puzzled why carrots went slimy and rotted so quickly, they never used to. Then I picked up a bag which still had ice crystals. Went to the manager to ask why carrots were frozen and he said they weren't - they were deep chilled at -3c!
Grow your own if you can.
It's yours, friend!
We buy close-dated meats and freeze it until we need them.
A guy I knew had an upmarket hotel. Asked to hang a lot of game birds. He has to get the maggots off before they are cooked..they smell high...no way I would eat that !!
This isn't even close-dated! I will fill my freezer and do a roast with rosemary and garlic. Can't usually afford lamb so will be a treat.
That sounds lovely do it!! I love lamb. Growing up my dad always went hunting so we always had wild game so Im all about anything outside of chicken, pork and beef
