The silly thing is, we've been bamboozled into thinking this is ok for years. Like "hate speech" is an actual thing. It isn't. Never has been, never will be.
They can’t even draft a list of what speech would constitute “hate”, because once they even try to start, it exposes the absurdity of the attempt. “But what about this?” Oh yeah, that’s Hate speech too. “But what about this?” Oh yeah, that too. It’s like a bottomless pit full of quicksand.
Almost all of the new rules of leftism are not written down anywhere for this same reason. Compare that to The Ten Commandments, which are carved in stone for everyone to read.
This is also on of the biggest traps that atheists fell for. They raged against The Ten Commandments because they wanted to make their own rules. And in so doing, they handed power over to a bunch of insane Marxists who surrounded them with infinite rules that would never be written down, and could flip or change at any time. They sought freedom from God, and became imprisoned by Men.
There is no hate speech. Only free speech. If you don't like the speech, change the channel.
A mere upvote doesn't do this post justice.
There's no free speech in a given forum unless Nazis are free there to be antisemitic, and KKK is free to complain about blacks. Etc. That's the measure of whether or not you actually have free speech in any given forum.
I remember in the 80s, this was a no-brainer. No one took fringe ideas seriously, but we all supported the right of fringe people to speak. And back then, Jews were the biggest supporters of free speech, even when that speech is offensive. Especially, even. What happened in the past few decades? What happened to this country?
Because back then they were slamming the victim card hard and people were telling them to stop crying. Now we have cry rooms and they run everything. Let that sink in.
Speech should never be policed; instead, speech that is repugnant gets shut down by peers, usually by not inviting them or whispering behind their backs.
You don't need violence or suppression or censorship to stop speech like that, you just walk away from people who say things you don't like if you aren't willing to make the effort to change their minds in a healthy and reasonable way.
Eventually they get the picture that people don't like what they're saying, and they are presented with a choice to chill out with that stuff or keep going and risk friends, family and strangers disapproving.
Regardless, "hate" speech is protected under the first amendment, and any government official in any capacity even advocating for it should be removed from their position and cast out from the country.
