He has two young daughters. At this time I dont know if foul play was involved but the story does seem odd.
He went duck hunting on one of the coldest windy days of the year... do ducks even present themselves in those conditions? The kayak apparently took on water when he was that far out and not while he was closer to the shore?? What could cause that? The "friend" said there was no distress calls....another oddity. Things just arent adding up and we are crushed here to think of his family.
My wife is very upset as this was a close high school friend who she used to ride motorcycles with. CP I pray that God works a miracle and you are found alive.
Thank you to anyone who reads this...you all are the only family I got.
God bless.
Edit: Update today they found his body with sonar. Wasnt wearing a lifejacket, so theres that too.
Thank you all for your support. Time to figure out how to help his two daughters.
Winging prayers your way, fren!
I really appreciate it.
First, so, so sorry. I hope this ends differently than it appears. As an "ex" avid duck hunter, this is somewhat odd to me. First, I just checked the temp, it is 15 right now there. So, I didn't look up that day, but assume single digits, windy and crappy like Indiana. No duck hunter I have ever known would have considered that without a vest (if considered at al). The amount of gear you have to have on, along with shells, gun, etc...makes swimming totally impossibly. It's certain death. Second, AGAIN, in a kayak you would know pretty quick if you were taking on water, and if you were you'd paddle like hell to the nearest shore. I'd fire off a quick distress round before paddling like hell, Last, yes, duck hunters are known to hunt in horrid conditions, but honestly I cannot see this on that type of day. I can tell you ducks were hunkered down here during those 2 days, they were not fighting the winds and frigid cold. I fell in a stream, up to my chest, in single digits and 2 ft of snow, mile walk up a ridge to my truck, I damn near died. It's a life altering event. I guess my point, if that were my friend, doing what I've done, I'd be suspicious. It does not make a lot of sense overall. Just my opinion. Other hunters may have different experience.
I appreciate your knowledge. I would have never gone to hunt at those temps either...just a recipe for disaster.
It does sound odd to hunt in conditions like that. I pray he is found and survives and that God gives all his family and friends strength.
They found his body this afternoon with sonar so we all have answers now. I appreciate your support
Praying.
Thank you
Prayed for him and you.
Thank you
Does he have a wife who explained why duck hunting in the cold wind would make sense this close to a major holiday? So much to do at home, y'know?
He was a single dad. Very standup guy..just starting his own hauling/dumping company.
I dont get why he was out either but apparently its normal for duck hunters. I only ever played on nintendo
Very sad to hear. The linked article mentions he was not alone:
"The men were in separate kayaks. The missing man's kayak appeared to be either riding low in the water or taking on water, the friend told authorities.
"He said his buddy never gave him a distress signal, but he noticed he was sitting down in the water," Woods said. "We have a last-known point they are kind of looking in.""
I'm sure the guy feels like shit and wished he checked on his friend. Sending prayers Fren.
Yea...this guy CP was loved by so many. A whole town is crushed right now. Thank you for the prayers
I hope your friend is found alive and makes a full recovery. In the event that is not what God has planned, i hope you and this gentleman's family can get the answers they need and closure. Im sorry for such an unfortunate event around Christmas.
thank you <3

Very normal for hardcore waterfowlers to hunt those conditions.
Many of us are complete waterfowl hunting addicts. The colder and worse the weather the more birds push down to hunt. You can have once in a lifetime hunts in those conditions.
Unfortunately it sounds like he underesimated the weather and overestimated the kayaks abilities. Its life and death out there in the cold conditions when you are on the water. Hypothermia can kill extremely fast.
Unfortunately many waterfowlers die every year from hypothermia and drowning.
Yea, you were 100% right on this one.
I do hope your friend turns up okay. Some of the most fun I've had duck hunting has been in windy or somewhat stormy weather. It can get the birds moving and flying around more. I've never gone out in a kayak though.
thank you he is with the Lord now.
Prayers on the way,and people hunt when they have time, not just when the weather is nice.
I've been hunting in bad weather and good.
thank you
Sending prayers, fren.
thank you
Believe it or not I’m pretty sure my niece’s husband went duck hunting the other day and it was just about zero degrees. Not sue if he was out on water or just along a pond or something but I thought he was retarded for going. He did actually get a couple so I guess only half retarded.
Its too cold for me to take the trash outside, I cant imagine fishing on a lake.
yea he needed to wear a lifejacket...those kayaks fill up and you dont even know it
So sorry to hear this. I hope he is found. This is a tough time of year for many. But this year seems especially tough for everyone. People need hope.
This is the hardest Christmas ever for me but still standing to fight the next fight.
Thank you for your support.
God bless you and your friend - wishing you the best!
thank you
Praying for your friend to be found alive. Please Jesus intervene on behalf of this man and his family. Please bring him home safe and unharmed. Amen.
Thank you for your support, they found his body today but he is with the Lord.
I'm here after the edit...I am SO sorry!
I will pray for his soul and his family.
thank you so much.
So sad 🙏
❤️
Is your friend a good Christian? If yes, then either God performs a miracle, or your friend is in God’s warm and loving embrace. I am praying for him and his soul.
He is definitely with God now. Thank you for your support.
I'll pray for him.
thank you
Anybody gets in a Kayak better be able to swim. They should be renamed to Flippers! I have never seen one that would flip your butt upside down. As cold as it was, he was probably wearing a lot of clothing. It does not look good but our prayers will be for him and his family.
yea he had waders on and a hunting jacket. Thank you for your support.
Have they found him yet. Please give an update when you can. Praying!
Yea they found his body unfortunately. His family was there for the recovery today so it was especially tough. Thank you for your prayers.
It is always sad when someone loses their life at an early age. May God receive him and comfort his family.
Sending prayers. (((Big Hugs)))
thank you
