Well they do play a semi-dangerous game of chicken here, but if it has to be a choice between Mcarthy or the islamic dude I don't see enough differences to matter, really.

The lone GOP rep in MD (Andy Harris) voted Jordan, which was a pleasant surprise. But yeah, if they can't get past 19 votes then it may be time to come together. Would be nice if McCarthy acknowledged the ahem elephant (or RINO, if you will) in the room and make some kind of gesture to give the holdouts some assurance things will be done differently. Hell, an assurance that things will be DONE would be a good starting point.

I think the Patriots are gonna have to concede at some point if they can't get anyone else over on their side. 19 of them have been voting against McCarthy.

I really don't want Jim Jordan taken off the Intelligence Committee at all. We need him on all the investigations. If someone else was on the ballot, then ok.

These votes make no sense. They know who is voting for whom. No need to do the actual vote until the horse trading (not an AOC reference) and get someone to change or till someone drops out or someone new is added.

Congress has 535, but 100 of those are in the Senate.
House has 435, and 50% + 1 = 218.
I'm not sure voting "present" works that way. I think members would need to be physically absent for the floor to drop.
I’m just going by what I heard on the radio…..Dems could start voting present to lower the threshold….not sure if that is true.
