Good. I work for the federal government. The amount of fraud, waste, and abuse I see everyday at the expense of the tax payer is absolutely disgusting. It's not just one agency, it's all of them. From the DoD down to the DoT and everything in between. Slash the federal workforce by 10 percent for 4 years consecutively and see where we are at, which is an extremely conservative cut overall. Part of the problem is the process to fire a federal employee, especially if they are in a protected class. That needs to change ASAP.
I retired last year from the federal government in DC. The majority of employees are overpaid and lazy. They know it takes an act of congress to get them fired. They abuse every part of the job, including government paid travel. And those few of us good ones ended up doing the work for the rest. It definitely can be slashed. And I agree, it should be made easier to fire employees.
I think that a whole lot could be accomplished without going through a never-ending firing process in the following way. (1) Do not replace anyone who retires or leaves government. (2) Move federal government agencies out of Washington D.C. and see who follows, i.e. move the Department of the Interior to somewhere in the interior, move Homeland Security to El Paso, move the Department of Agriculture to Iowa, move the department of Energy to Texas. (3) Transfer employees from bloated D.C. departments to the new out-of-D.C. departments.
Many of actions and steps began under DJT - USDA required all DC employees to move to their territories and most of them resigned or retired after loads of grumbling.
DJT also took the initial required steps of employee categorization to run operations with a reduced force - RIF Planning - he did that in 2017 - and I believe every agency had to submit those plans, including the Big Swamp DOD.
There is a waiting period involved and it's been over two years so that timeframe has been met, so an "RIF" can be implemented which could lay off/fire over half of the federal workforce!
He made BIG MOVES while he was in office!
Everything is teed up and ready to go.
That article quotes the seething democrats as calling it “war on the federal work force.” Do they really think that statement is going to resonate with…anyone?? That might as well be the greatest slogan to pitch the idea.
Right? That article is published in GovExecutive magazine - a newsletter for federal employees. They are So Biased and entitled, so it's been delicious to watch them gnash their teeth, cry and whine about having to follow actual rules and not get to do whatever they want at our expense!
I say Scrop the whole thing and start over!
Repeal it all back to pre-1781.
I might resonate with career federal drones.. I spent thefirt year or so of my professional career in Federal Job. basedupon what I saw and experienced, I didn't stick around to lock in my Federal Retirement contributions... the bureaucracy and waste was that bad...
I think that that might be just a drop in the bucket of a bloated government. The elected critters that keep lining their own pockets is a majority of the problem.
I remember looking for jobs at the state unemployment office when I was young. I was amazed at all of the positions and pay grades for the state. There were scheduled raises and openings for better positions to climb the ladder stated up front. Once you get in, you’re set. I’ve never seen a state worker in a hurry to get anything done, either, with one exception.
The laziest are always the most secure. It's mind blowing. They are essentially on welfare, with a requirement to sometimes be at work. LMAO. I'm sure we see the same type people, brother.
They are always the most politically connected too. I honestly wonder how many of them are freemasons or married to a mason. There is some sort of backdoor network that promotes slacker staff over great workers, but I can't quite identify it.
Always the case everywhere. Even in smaller private companies - I can't fire my friend, drinking buddy, the "other / booty call" person, any of the protected class, etc.
Yup! I don’t want you to lose your job, fren, but dang, the bloat of federal agencies is astounding! BTW, would your username be related to being a fan of any particular sports team by chance? 😬
I've obtained a very specific skill set that makes firing me pretty difficult, but not saying it couldn't happen. Everyone I know is insanely overpaid for their work, everyone, including myself. And you would be correct! A specific college in the south!
LSU or Auburn? I’m gonna guess LSU since you have a 19 after your name and every LSU fan knows that’s the best football season to ever happen in college fb history. Also, Auburn has like 10 mascots and for some reason seem to go with War Eagle over Tigers. 🙄🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ No offense if you’re a Tiger of the Auburn variety but it IS a little ridiculous. 😂 If it’s LSU I just have two words for you...Geaux Tigers! 🙌🏻💜💛☺️
And red tape, waiting on others to do some task, change management BS, "new" regulations or having to fix some morons work who didn't know how the real world operates.

It's a start, anyway.

Good plenty of jobs out here coding.
Dump these shovel ready obama jobs
This is a sensible thing to do. Add the 10% slash of the workforce and we’d be righting then ship in twice the time.

Excellent ideas!! Spread them all out so backdoor deals aren’t easily hidden. And place them in more accessible areas of the country. 🙌🙌
Same. Unfortunately what gets cut are the actual productive employees instead of the pounds of dead weight holding down the office chairs.
