I think in order to prevent panic, they’re saying it was a software update error. But then there is this- this is the first article I’ve read about a ground stop for this reason last year. A suspected incoming ballistic missile from NK. I don’t necessarily trust newsmax but what if intel showed a high probability of an attack and it was precautionary yesterday? Or a dry run.
General aviation was not affected. Perhaps it was to see who would bolt. Would be simple to weed out GA with a foreign destination flight plan, even if destination changed enroute.
There are also two RQ-4 drones watching the East coast -- one doing loops over the Chesapeake.
Not something I've seen before.

Knew the excuse for grounding commercial flights was suspicious.
Thank you!

It's worth mentioning that besides doing air to air refueling, tankers can be moving cargo, passengers, and medevac
Been on a KC 135 for that many times.
I've been hearing more jet activity this week, but it never shows up on here, so I can't say how or what it is.
Yesterday there were 52 in the air and you can figure there are at least 5-10 fighters in the air!
Not a planefag, but what caught my eye is the tanker out of Toronto/Detroit that hovered above Camp Grayling in Northern MI before heading west.
It's general use, any branch but mostly NG. Active ordinance range. Familiar with the area.
Jeez, how many of those were there?
